Why do you think Dawkins is a "dickwad"?Still not sure what point you're trying to make. Yeah, Dawkins and others fell out of favor with some atheists (including myself) because they're dickwads. And? They're not bigger or more influential than the Christian right.
He (and others) fell "out of favor" with some atheists because of so-called "Atheism+", a movement to combine atheism with doctrinaire left-wing politics. The issue that caused Dawkins to get "deplatformed" from various places was his criticism of Islam among other things.
Atheism+ was a colossal mistake and just ended up moving many atheists to the right. And even those who haven't get accused of it anyway by the plussers.
