I did listen to Naomi Klein on a podcast while I was driving since reading while driving is I’ll advised. Of course fascists want to call her crazy.

I always love that line of reasoning: "If we cause enough misery and kill enough people, then it will cue Jebus' to come back, annihilate the remaining population, and then load us onto the Holy Bus to Heaven."

It's like one of those movies where a boy has a crush on a girl and throws pebbles at her window to see if she'll come outside and talk to him.

People who consider themselves progressive-thinking intellectuals might be familiar with the brilliant Naomi Klein. She is an important author and film maker, winner of the Sydney Peace Prize, and a professor specializing in Climate Justice. She is Canadian, her parents having emigrated from USA as Vietnam war resisters. (I think her recent book Doppelganger focuses on being conflated with Naomi Wolf, another political commentator.) I read her 2007 book Shock Doctrine and became a fan, though I've only read 1 or 2 of her several other books.

The YouTube image also shows the channel name "Democracy Now!" and, sure enough, Ms. Klein is interviewed by Amy Goodman, herself an important journalist and author. Ms. Goodman has won several awards including the Gandhi Peace Award. An interview like this will offer better insights than a typical news or late-night show.

I cannot blame unapologetic for offering only the briefest possible summary. I've often linked to a written or video opinion piece, and found that attention focused on my summary rather than the linked-to information. Very few people make time to read or watch the opinion, but are happy to point out apparent gaps in the necessarily very abridged summary I provide.

More like, one of those movies or shows where a deranged guy thinks that the best way to win a lady's heart is to murder her friends; maybe he WILL get her attention, but he'll also get a knife in the eye before the closing curtain.

Especially when those analogies correspond to all the dumbass shit people do in movies and shows that frustrate the autistic folks in the audience to the point that it's hard for us to watch, yes.

Like, I sometimes wonder how people can end up like that even with media that says so loudly to not be that, and then I remember that we are plagued here with our own population of selfawarewolves and the human mind has little difficulty fooling itself most times.
