NFL 2025

The season has officially started with the engagement of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. It’s all downhill from here.

Stay classy, Eagles.

Carter is the guy who was involved in a street racing incident where two people died. Upstanding citizen.

If that happened on the Belichick Patriots, he'd have been waived before the flag hit the ground!

One thing I like about the NFL is the parity. While you have a decent idea who'll suck, who'll be the top teams, in excess of Buffalo, KC, and Philly is somewhat of a mystery. Look forward to this season, and NFL+ to watch the Pats without commercials on time delay. This is Vrabel's first season at the helm and McDaniels is running the offense. I'd like a 8-9/9-8 season with option for playoff potential the following season. Regardless, I'll always have Super Bowl LI.

1) Carter may be their best defensive player. That would be the equivalent of Belichick waiving Vince Wilfork. Not happening.

2) You’re missing a team from that list. And I don’t know if KC can do it with smoke and mirrors again; they won a lot of very close games last year.

Dude benched Malcolm Butler at the Super Bowl... even when the defense was giving up touchdowns like they worth only 1 point. No, Malcolm Butler isn't Carter, but still Belichick makes up his mind, that is it.

I wouldn't doubt it. I have no idea what is happening in the NFL these days. Is Las Vegas still playing in Las Vegas or did they move back to Oakland or something? Where in the heck are the Rams now? :)

KC is entering that normal phase of dynasties don't last forever. This is the hump the Patriots miraculously cross over (while losing two Super Bowls).

Well, I can cancel the Super Bowl hotel room reservations and better yet I can stop selling my organs on the black market to afford tickets. It was only one game, but the biggest issue that is beyond resolving that I saw was Drake Maye still has issues with passing accuracy which did not become improved over the off-season. The Patriots came out slow, but mid-1st quarter and 2nd quarter, the offense and defense looked decent, even if Maye's passing was hit or miss. But the first drive by the Raiders in the second half looked like the first one in the first half... and this time in the second half, the Patriots weren't able to respond. Defensively or offensively. It is early and I usually don't give up too quickly on a QB, but I saw last year's Maye on Sunday, not a new this year's version.

The Browns can also look to this being another rebuilding season. While many will look at the outcome of a game where the Browns outgained the Bengals 327-141 as something to build off of... the only thing I think is being built is a gangplank. When you outgain a team by nearly 250% and you still lose... that means your team is gifted in losing... not winning.

If you're wondering who was PFF's top rated quarterback for week one, it was not Allen and his 400 yards, not Herbert and his 3TDs and 300 yards, not Rodgers with his 4 TDs, nor Jackson and his 11 yd average, it was Matt Stafford and his one TD and 245 yards.

For something about having the highest "big time throw" rate.

I don't know how much stock to put into their ratings, I'm just glad that Stafford was vertical on game day, because the team had locked down all information about his health status for the past month, as though he were an elderly president. But if he was hurting, I couldn't tell at all, he did look fit and able. He threw an accurate ball and made difficult throws. He was also sacked three times, so I am concerned about the line and his well-being going forward. But if he can stay healthy, I feel good about the team. Not Super Bowl good, but 10-win season good. They have Eagles and Ravens in the coming weeks, so will know better soon.

Speaking of Baltimore, life check for Raven fan?

Didn't see Drake Maye play but did see Caleb Williams, so so if it helps, I doubt Maye is the worst second year QB out there. Didn't look like Williams developed at all since last year. If anything, it looks like his accuracy is worse, missing several very open players in important spots. He still hangs onto the ball too long and has big issues getting the team set before the snap. We will see how good a coach Ben Johnson can be. He might have met his match.

I’m alive, and ready to take scalps. First headline I saw was, “ravens find new way to dominate and lose.” Before Sunday, there were 277 instances of a team having a lead of that size at that time while gaining 200+ yards rushing. That team won every effing time. Before Sunday, Josh Allen’s stats against the Ravens had been mediocre to poor in every game. So naturally, the Ravens completely changed their approach and got torched. The offense went ultra-conservative despite having one of the greatest weapons in the history of football. At one juncture while they were piling up 40 points, the man ran 15 yards toward his own end zone to avoid a sack and still ran for a 20-yard gain and a first down.

The number of fans calling for a new coach has probably increased by an order of magnitude. He should have at least one title already with Lamar.

The Browns … well, Joe Flacco played well enough to win. His receivers and the kicker did not. Bengals lucked out big time.

I know the Patriots didn’t look good, but I’m still thinking of picking them over the Dolphins in my survivor pool. Tua and company were abysmal. Holding back only because the game is in Miami.

When Jackson threw that ball on third down short of the first, I assumed he did that knowing they would go for it.

Going too conservative at the end is a gripe I have with McVay, but on Sunday he went against form and threw it on 3rd down with a lead and under 2 minutes left, and it worked. I can't remember the last time he's done that.

I think Hopkins ran the route too shallow, and it looked like the ball was going to him unless he fell down. There's been a lot of debate on the decision to punt; Lamar said he was cramping pretty badly (WTF, this isn't Miami), which affected the decision against going for it. I was also shocked that he gave the ball up on 2nd down, because he's a master at getting at least 4-5 yards straight ahead.

A very interesting week one but I think we can all agree, the season is over for the Chiefs and Patriots :ROFLMAO:
As far as playoffs and Super Bowl, I'd be a bit more certain about that with the Patriots than the Chiefs.

For the Patriots, this is about finally rebuilding a coaching staff and developing a team ethos. OC'ers at New England have had a lifespan of about one year for the last several seasons. That makes life quite difficult. The good news for the Patriots, they've got a lot to improve on, so making progress (offensive running, passing, blocking, defense against passing, penalties) should be easy to notice. The goal for the Patriots this year is to be a stronger team (coaching and playing) at the end of the season, and not in a 4-1 in the last five weak games sort of way, but fundamentals have gotten better.

Until that happens though, there are 6 Super Bowl titles to keep me happy. I know some of the other Patriots' fans are a bit whiney and impatient, but those people aren't "True Patriots Fans". :D

Getting ready for Mac Jones to pull a Brady/Bledsoe on Brock Purdy.
