Yet another war, this time with Iran

That was the old Khomeini who wrote that
Yes, Khomeini who founded the so-called "Islamic Republic" and who established the regime that controls Iran to this day. But yet his defence of actual pedophilia is being dismissed.
and Iran has been completely obliterated since then, with a freed liberated people, and a completely new regime changed. Mission Accomplished, Derec.
BS, even by your standards. The mission is far from being accomplished, and it won't be as long as Trump TACOs.
As long as Trump TACOs? Removing the IRGC and the Theocracy by force will take an invasion. That is why it hasn't happened. Trump can't TACO because he never actually had pieces in place to actually achieve the objective or true regime change and elimination of the nuclear program. Because it would take a draft to do so, and very likely cause an oil shortage before the invasion even started as it'd take a year plus to mobilize troops to the theater and Iran would have already pressed several panic buttons.

Trump extends the deadline to tomorrow evening. He says it most likely won't be re-extended. Will calamity ensue? Will Trump extend again? Will Trump do the unthinkable and nuke Iran? Will the deadline pass with nothing happening? All we are certain of is there will be mixed messages posted on social media on his account. The rest, we'll just need to wait and see who wagers what in the markets.

Trump justified the delay by indicating Iran has agreed to provisions they likely haven't agreed to.

While US and Israel are certainly no perfect, is it incredibly ignorant to say that they are "no better". They are many, many orders of magnitude better than IRGC and the islamofascist terror group it funds, arms and controls.
That is your view, not theirs. They have their own reasons.

Who in the world believes what Trump says?

Stop this moral relativisation. It's like saying that Trump is just as bad is Hitler. No he's not. It's an incredibly ignorant thing to say. I think you're better than this
He is just as bad. Israel would not have done this if it did not have the backing of US. How many killed (including civilians, women and children, how many houses destroyed, how many displaced? I am not supporting Hamas. The war will start again tomorrow, if not, then at a later time. This war is not going to end. And he has three more years. God alone knows what other wars he will bring about.

There are now reports that, when the two pilots were missing, Trump had an hours-long screaming fit, hollering at his aides that we'd have another hostage crisis like the one that doomed Carter in his reelection campaign. It reportedly got so bad that the staff in the situation room held meeting closed to Trump to carry on the crisis management.

I had read that and my first reaction was "Well, what did you expect to happen?"

These consequences of starting this war, planes shot down, Iran sending missiles and drones at other states, closing the strait, would have been anticipated, even expected, by a compitent administration.

Perhaps it's why no other administration tried starting this half-assed war.

A President would naturally think:
1) OMG! We got to get them out for their safety.
2) If Iran gets them first, that will complicate the military operation and put their lives in danger.
3) This will be a public relations disaster

Meanwhile President Trump:
1) Why me?!

What does the pedophilia by a guy long dead have to do with the discussion of the war?

It's an old tactic. Right-wingers become feminists whenever impending sabre-rattling is needed prior to bombing Muslim countries. But once the short-term actual goals are achieved, like, say, getting oil or installing an allied dictator, suddenly the feminist arguments go down the memory hole.

It is just another pointless "whataboutism".
Derec is trying to preach to the choir that the Iranian Theocracy isn't good.

Seems extra pointless in a forum for atheists.

If this were purely about opposing brutal regimes, the list of targets would be a lot longer. The outrage seems to show up mainly when it aligns with U.S. strategic interests.

For example, actions like this incursion into Iran can just as easily be viewed as an effort to strengthen U.S. positioning in the region to counter

That’s also why I think U.S. support for Israel is driven heavily by strategy, not just shared values. That doesn’t make it illegitimate, but it does mean we should be honest about the geopolitical incentives and actually debate whether they still make sense.

And just to be clear, I support dismantling groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Ayatollah’s regime. But the moment I show any concern for civilians caught in the middle, suddenly I’m “pro-Hamas”? That leap makes no sense to folks not in their cult.

Another thing, why do people even feel the need to constantly preface everything by saying they support Israel’s right to exist? When was the last time anyone had to clarify that they support other countries existing? It's a no brainer to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The “No other country is threatened with destruction” is a wild take too. They really think global rivals wouldn’t love to escort each other off the board. :ROFLMAO:

So Trump has agreed to extend the ceasefire until an agreement is made.

This is good, but it'd be nice to have him stop this crap. Also, can we stop the blockade to stop the blockade?

Trump wants to be negotiating from a position of strength, but Iran proves how stubbornness can be a viable negotiating tactic... wait, Trump knows that too.

It was a direct response to your idiotic "Epstein Navy" meme. Note that similar memes have frequently been posted by the pro-Regime elements on the Internet.

Also, as to him being "long dead", he is the one who founded the so-called "Islamic Republic". And to my knowledge, no ayatollah after him abrogated Khomeini's pro-pedophilia teachings.

Trump is completey imcompetent. He lies on social media about what Iran did or did not agree to. He makes clear that he's despirate for a deal. He blows his stack, threatens genocide amd goes TACO.

Yes it's good the deadline was extended. I knew he would.

He's got himself and the world into a serious mess. It's his self-inflicted mess. I wonder how much he understands of that.

Yes, deny oil to China (and India). Going against accepted laws makes it illegitimate - freedom of seas, WTA. Other countries too can make a strategy to suit their interests, South China Sea and Taiwan for China only, Arctic for Russia only. And finally that will lead to conflicts. Iran war has deeply affected US, Europe and many other countries. We (India or even Pakistan) too are one of the affected developing countries.

Why would a Muslim deny that? After all. Ayesha was 6 when married (Muhammad played with her dolls) and 9 when marriage was consummated?
