Split Lindsey Graham Dead

To notify a split thread.
Who would have thought Lindsey Graham would go before Mitch McConnell?

We’re getting closer…
This has the potential to be the most epic "Celebrity Death Trifecta" in recent history.

I will convert to the first Abrahamic religion that accepts me if this plays out as you imply. A hat trick is pretty strong proof of a powerful god. It also explains how Keith Richards is still around.

Don't say Keith Richards when we're talking about things like that!

It's another Rump distraction.
Rump had Graham poisoned to distract from the pending McConnell investigation. I'm guessing.
There must be some McConnell scandal about to break.

Not everything's a distraction or a conspiracy.

The sparse statement by Graham’s office, which did not explain his death, comes during a stretch of concern about a lack of transparency about lawmakers’ health.

Rep. Tom Kean Jr., R-N.J., was absent without explanation for months before returning to Congress and disclosing that he had been diagnosed with depression.

Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, the former longtime Republican leader, was hospitalized weeks ago for undisclosed health reasons.

Not exactly the party of transparency. It takes a lot of work to outdo Democrats with regards to keeping candidates past their use-by date. But for some reason the GOP has decided to tell everyone, "hold my beer".

THE CONSPIRICY is: If McConnell dies now, Kentucky will hold a special election to replace him, BEFORE NOVEMBER. And a democrat is expected to win the seat.
So they can't let him die yet.

“Lindsey Graham was a lonely and unprincipled man who betrayed his country for power and his decency for attention. Let it be known for all time that he knew exactly what Donald Trump was from the very beginning, and chose him over his country.”

- Steve Schmidt

I’ll never forget his saying we can make America great again by telling trump to go to hell. Then he turned into his most enthusiastic supporter. What a piece of shit. I expect the illness he died of was spinal osteoporosis. It was just hollowed out and disappeared.

It may have been meant as snark but almost none of this is true. Any Democrat would be the underdog in a Senate race, and if McConnell were to die today the earliest the election could be would be sometime in September. The Democratic governor would surely put it off until the general election in November, thereby reducing the GOP majority in the Senate until then.

ETA actually the law doesn't seem to put a limit on how long the election can be delayed. If I were beshear I would hold off until the day before the new Senate session starts in January 2027, thereby depriving the GOP of a Senate seat for the maximum possible time. It would be an entirely fitting tribute to McConnell and his machinations concerning scotus vacancies...

Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa will be 93 in September. Hal Rogers, R-KY is almost 88.
