Drone apparently used for terrorist attack against the Japanese PM:

Tokyo (CNN)A bizarre and alarming discovery is raising concerns in Japan about the potential for terrorism involving drones.

A drone carrying traces of a radioactive material was found on the rooftop of Japan's equivalent to the White House on Wednesday, police and government officials said.

The discovery came on the same day a Japanese court approved a government plan to restart two reactors at the Sendai nuclear power plant in Kagoshima prefecture, more than four years after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

In matters of military innovation... what comes around goes around. I'm surprised POTUS wasn't the first to get this. Maybe the next, so now terror attacks have been upgraded from the size of a commercial jet to 1:15 scale. Homeland security around the world should be getting the shits about this.

They call those things drones, it was a DJI phantom, but they are little more than toys and can only be flown a very short distance, the batteries only last about 10 minutes.

They could be used for terrorism though.

Tinkering with them is a sinch. Anyone with a technical degree can increase their range and also make them deadlier.

The type of "drone" is really the un-interesting part of this story. The radioactive material is.

What was it and what was the danger?

Police say the drone was equipped with a small camera, smoke flares and a plastic bottle containing small traces of a radioactive material believed to be cesium, a common byproduct of nuclear reactors.

This may not be terrorism, but a demonstration of sorts, especially considering the timing. Not exactly lethal. Unless the aim was to somehow smuggle the water inside and get the PM to drink it?

It was just a matter of time before something like this would happen. What makes it interesting thing is that drones have commercial applications. We don´t want to ban them outright. We´ll see how this end.
