GOP Congressman figures out what went wrong in Baltimore

Since when can fags marry???

How can a cigarette consent to marriage? And how many reach the age they can legally marry, anyway???
I think he means we can't have fags at the wedding ceremony. The spreading political correctness that we shouldn't light leaves on fire near innocent people means that smokers have to keep running out of the ceremony, or the reception, to grab a smoke on the front steps.
Especially if the official chooses to go 'full mass' on everyone.
And that means people will see that daddy or mommy or the best man or the priest holds his addiction in higher esteem than the couple who's having 'their day.'

And that just leads to social rot.

what went wrong in Baltimore

It is quite a mystery. You think a city in which Democrats get 80+% of the vote would be some sort of paradise.

Unionize everybody (but the cops of course), slap on a $30 per hour minimum wage, 26 hour work week, ban Walmart and other big mean corporations, and watch the prosperity bloom.

Obviously you've never been to Baltimore.

Indeed I have, but must say I'm not sure why these Baltimore threads keep devolving into questions about my personal travels.

Flores is probably a lot closer to the truth than most of the shite I've read on here.

Flores is way way too young to have witnessed the breakdown of the nuclear family.

Hell. He probably wasn't born when the equal rights amendment was enacted. Thats 20, maybe 40, years after the breakdown of the traditional family.

Yeah, but the speech is an heirloom. Just fill in the blanks with some new family-destroying change like 'women's suffrage' or 'the Pill' or 'feminism' or 'Roe vs. Wade' and you're in like Flynn.

In this case, it's because you are implying Baltimore is a place where there is even the slightest chance everyone will be unionoized, the minimum wage will be raised to $30 per hour, and Walmart and other big mean corporations will be banned.

It's amazing how much conservatives are fixated on where people stick their genitals.

If by "closer to the truth" you mean to say "is a fucking idiot."

The legalization of same sex marriage (in the states and potentially nationwide) has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the "breakdown of the family." In fact up until about the last few years, 100 percent of the damage to "traditional marriage" can be laid at the feet of heterosexuals. Quickie marriages, easy divorces, remarriages, and repeat business for divorce lawyers happened entirely in the heterosexual world because prior to about 2005, the gays Flores fears so much were legally prohibited from marrying each other.

He's blaming problems that have been brewing for 50 years on a cause which didn't even exist until recently.

I'd say the war on drugs is more responsible for the inner city nuclear family crisis than gay marriage by about 10000 fold.

You can always count on dismal for good quality hyperbole.

Are there things on that list you don't support?

Well then I suppose you can make the case that the decline of the "traditional family" over the last half century is due to gay marriage..

Nobody actually said that. Just another disingenuous hit piece. Ho hum.

Yeah, nobody actually said anything of the sort. Oh...wait...

“And a lot of these problems are created by the breakdown of the family, which the redefinition of marriage would only accelerate.”

“You’re exactly right, Tony,” said Flores...

I thought that we had decided that welfare dependency caused the breakup of the traditional family? That the family that starves together, stays together. That the best way to beat poverty is by not giving poor people too much money, easy money in the form of government handouts or by paying them too much, by forcing wages too high. Poverty doesn't have anything to do with money after all, it is a question of morality and character. Right?

Now it seems that the anticipation of legal gay marriage fifty years in the future is what did it all of those years ago.

And of course, we wouldn't have rioting in the streets if the traditional family hadn't been destroyed.

And poverty is caused by the breakdown of the traditional family which is caused by the on going, fifty year long anticipation of legalized gay marriage, which has nothing to do with welfare dependency. Right?

It is just good old common sense. Right?
