Both are problems in my estimation. I'd take it a step further and say that much of 'forensic science' is bogus even without specific cases of misconduct.

No, Loren! This is an anomaly. It IS the cops. They shoot down people in the street without the need for lab analysis. All they have to say is, "I was afraid."
Cowardly racist cops are the big problem...them and their bosses.
