As a precondition for lifting of sanctions? Could it be because she is beloved by his far left allies and the Black Lives Matter movement?

You pretend not to know who she is like people pretended not to know Mumia Abu Jamal. But Orlando Bosch is a household name. *shake head*
Assata Shakur, whose real name is Joanne Chesimard, murdered a police officer who stopped her and other Black Liberation Army terrorists in 1973. With help of BLA terrorists she escaped from prison and has been hiding in Cuba ever since. She is also the aunt of gangsta rapper Tupac Shakur who was killed, probably by rival gangstas, in 1996.

More #BLM love for this cop killer:

There is a prize on her of 2 million dollars. Might be worth a trip to Cuba. Anybody know if she has any special security?

First the US should not, and generally isn't so stupid as to hold up all issues related to international relations with another country over a single person. The US vendetta against Cuba should have been dismantled in the years after the Cold War ended (remember that dusty old item of history?). Second, it was Pres. Obama's FBI placed her on their Most Wanted list in 2013, and doubled the reward to $2 million.

Cuba has a lot more to gain from restored relations with US than we do. Therefore they should be very eager not to torpedo the negotiations because they want to keep harboring a cop killer.

Lip service as she is still, in 2015, a free woman.
By the way, anybody up for adventure vacation in Cuba. :)

I can read, I know what she was convicted of. You are promoting a very childish view of foreign policy and relations. I realize the Cuba is one of the right wings favorite political punching bags, but how about getting real, and deal with the fact that Cuba is little different than many other countries that we have normalized relationships with. How about we just shift our relations with Cuba up to the level with say Russia, who is harboring Snowden?

And I would have no more reluctance to take a vacation in Cuba as I would China...

Are they allowed to harbor murderers?

He should be extradited too.

I would actually like to visit Cuba, even though I abhor their dictatorship. Especially if I can make 2 million doing it. ;)
And why can't CIA go in and snatch her like Mossad snatched Eichmann from Argentina? And if that's beyond their capabilities, they could take her out right then and there.

Are we allowed to fund and support terrorists?

Paraphrasing Harrison Ford...You act like it is a movie. It's not like this in real life.

I know there have been convictions for people funding terrorist groups like Hamas in the US so I would say no. So be careful if you plan to contribute to Assata. ;)

Snatching of Eichmann was real life.

I don't know that's CIA business. Their job is not to capture common criminals, and she's apparently not been a significant threat for US security for decades (unless you count the symbolism, but that probably wouldn't be weakened if she's captured; on the contrary, it might become stronger).

Also, an operation like that would jeopardize the attempt to improve relations with Cuba, and that's a more important foreign goal for Obama.

"we" as in US govt...

We should probably tell her that she's won a new XBox. Then when she comes to pick it up, we knock her over the head and deliver her to the US authorities and collect $2 million.

Then we'll use part of the reward money to buy her an XBox that she can play in prison - just to be nice.

Better give the rest to charity otherwise both sides will have you on their most wanted list.

Do you want an anti-abortion sniped lurking in your neighborhood. Do you need Black Lives Matter demonstrations in your neighborhood?

Of course not.

Charity. That's the ticket.

Have fun! Just make sure that you don't wind up getting extradited to Cuba after they indict you on kidnapping charges once relations are more normalized.

Besides, el Chapo is a more relevant concern. ($8.8 million) You can pick her up on your way back from Mexico with him.

I know who none of these people are. Nor do they seem relevant, although "Orlando Bosch" sounds like a the name of a dance party host.

I would love to have all of those people in my neighbourhood. Society is a rainbow and it benefits none of us to have us separated. Except for those kids who are allergic to everything and need to live in a bubble, of course. They should stay in their bubbles because it's dangerous for them to leave it.

It sounds like a location of the German car parts company.
