Ground Control to Major Tom: We lost David Bowie.

 
 
 
With Lemmy a couple of weeks ago and now Bowie, a large part of my youth is passing away before my very eyes. Who's next?
 
Sad to hear of him passing - yet so many memories carved in vinyl. It will be easy to not forget him and his contributions.
 
I heard he's been fighting cancer for the last 18 months. He kept his private life very private.

Adds some poignancy to some of the songs on his last album.

I saw a recent picture of him and he looked like crap and I thought he was ill. Some of my favorite songs are David Bowie songs.A lot of his songs were getting played on the radio this morning, a real treat instead of the usual drivel. David Bowie, an artist, an actor, a rock star and by all accounts a lovely man.
 
Interesting info about China Girl:

It was made in 1977 by him and Iggy Pop from Iggy's crush on a Vietnamese lady, Kuelan Nguyen, who in my opinion is one of those striking, but off-putting people. More interesting looking than pretty.

Bowie re-released to to help Iggy out of a financial problem.

I just love the bassline of the song.

Bowie dated the actress from the video for a short while. She was not Iggy's crush, obviously.
