Fucking hell, if they did no attacks they could boil the European frog alive by not having more resistance to immigration. They have no patience.
 
As understanding and ideological as one would like to be about all this, it was exceedingly stupid for Germany to do what they've done.
 
Stupid for the Islamists (forget moderate and apathetic muslims for now) to not play the long game and wait till their numbers were higher after a couple crises happened with the resulting immigration waves.

The alternative was millions of frustrated asylum seekers being forced into detention centers in Hungary and Italy, which the Hungarians and Italians couldn't possibly staff or supply adequately, until their sheer number overwhelmed the local authorities as they flooded into Europe to escape violence, oppression, and starvation.

Merkel bought the EU time to come up with a coordinated, sensible plan by relieving the immediate pressure on the frontline nations. Not all members of the EU have put that time to good use. Some appear to think sticking their heads in the sand will make the problem go away.
 
Meanwhile about a thousend people have drowned since they have to flee in tiny boats.

One problem is that we don't know what would have happened if Germany had not allowed the refugees in. I don't think it takes too much imagination to see that the potential for violence - short-term and longer term - probably would have been much greater Hungary or Italy. Add in bigotry and fear and you get these types of OP with the ditto heads.
 
Some may and will disagree that the USA and the willing EU nations bear a lot of responsibility for the mess in the Middle east.The refugee problem was created by GWB and Cheney fuck ups.The EU is taking brunt of that mess.Is Trump or Hillary going to fess up and help out?

It's the world's tiniest violin playing just for these economic migrants from Africa.

Rescuing them and bringing them to Italy has been a real dumbass move. It makes the job of the smugglers easier because the navy brings them most of the way to Italy. They only need to put them on some flimsy craft and the navy does the rest - brilliant! Best would be for the navy to drop them off where they came from. Even not rescuing them at all would save lives in the long run. With the rescues (many more times get rescued than drown) more migrants are encouraged to try the crossing themselves which just exacerbates the problem. The key is to find a policy that is both humane and does not aid and abet the smugglers. The current policy of bringing them in does not work. All you get is "Idomeni on the Brenner" that way.

Russia is the one power most involved in the Syria mess. US and EU have been relatively inactive. So should we ship these migrants to Moscow?

The alternative would be not letting so many into EU in the first place. Where are the Arab states in all this? Why is KSA not letting in millions of their brethren in? They have space and most importantly, a compatible culture.

Buying the Islamist Erdogan off is not a "coordinated, sensible plan" and it does nothing to shut down the Libyan route anyway.

Hungary tried that approach. It didn't work. There were too many refugees for the Hungarians to keep out or process, and the other EU nations refused to help the Hungarians deal with the crisis. Eventually, the Hungarians started sending the overflow on to Austria. Now Austria is trying to keep the refugees out, which only puts even more pressure on Hungary. It does nothing to solve the problem.

Yazidi refugees won't find their faith, their culture, or themselves welcome in SA. Neither will Syrian Druze or African Christians. You don't think all the refugees are Muslims from the Arabian Peninsula, do you? Even if they were, why would they want to live under the Saudi king in one of the most repressive countries on Earth? Granted, it's better than living under ISIL, but why wouldn't they try to get to someplace better, like Europe?

Right. So the leaders of the EU nations should stop trying to pass the buck and come up with something more sensible and long-lasting. That's what leadership means. Merkel bought them time, and IMO they should stop squandering it.

War is underway in nearby countries. Famine and economic collapse have struck in others. Refugees are fleeing for their lives and many are coming to Europe. The European nations have to face these facts and deal with the issue head on, not just pretend that a wall made out of barbed wire and red tape will stop desperate people from trying to get into best possible place for them to find safety and a chance to start over.

That's bullshit. How do you explain the masses of migrants from Sub Sahara Africa, Bangladesh, etc.? You can't blame GWB and Cheney for those!

The problem is these people are paying thousands of dollars for rickety boats that are not seaworthy, resulting in several sinking. As I understand the Western authorities have made rescue attempts spotting sinking ships or people drowning.
