Can anyone vet this article about Israel favoring ISIS over Assad/Iran?

makes strong claims which I am cynical enough to believe:

n a speech at the Herzliya Conference, Israel’s military intelligence chief, Major General Herzi Halevy, took Israel’s long-standing position that it “prefers ISIS” over the Syrian government to a whole ‘nother level, declaring openly that Israel does not want to see ISIS defeated in the war.

Quoted in the Hebrew-language NRG site, linked to Maariv, Maj. Gen. Halevy expressed concern about the recent offensives against ISIS territory, saying that in the last three months the Islamist group was facing the “most difficult” situation since its inception and declaration of a caliphate.

Israeli officials have regularly expressed comfort with the idea of ISIS conquering the whole of Syria, saying they find it preferable to the Iran-allied government surviving the war. At the same time, they were never so overtly supportive of ISIS and its survival.

I couldn't find any mainstream news outlets carrying that story, but back in January the Times of Israel quoted Israel's Defense Minister saying pretty much the same thing:

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said Tuesday that Iran poses a greater threat than the Islamic State, and that if the Syrian regime were to fall, Israel would prefer that IS was in control of the territory than an Iranian proxy.

“In Syria, if the choice is between Iran and the Islamic State, I choose the Islamic State. They don’t have the capabilities that Iran has,” Ya’alon told a conference held by the Institute of National Security Studies in Tel Aviv.

It's more like an embodiment of the proverb of the "laughing third". Both Sunni ISIS and Shia Iran/Syria/Hezbollah hate Israel and want to destroy it, but as long as they have to fight each other they can't do anything about it.

It's not so much favouring or liking anyone but which to Israel would be a worse enemy?

Why would Israel want to get rid of Isis? Is Isis in any way a threat to Israel ATM?

When american news sources report Israeli news sources, they must flow through the great Adelson/Murdoch filter, which removes any content that does not fit their agenda. I have been following israeli news directly for some years, and I find it shocking how much is said therin that doesn't get transmitted through US sources. So don't rely on the 'mainstream news sources.' The Times of Israel and other israeli news sources are the only way to get the israeli news.

Because of humanitarian concern. But most countries are controlled by cold blooded psychopaths and Israel is no exception.

It sounds like they're saying that they don't think ISIS would be as dangerous an enemy because they're pretty much fuck-ups.

Can piece of shit Netanyahu and Obama stop posturing about ISIS then? It is clearly what they want.

That's what I hear too. They hate both equally but perceive one to be a less capable enemy.

I don't think it's even a matter of hate. Rather, they recognize that whoever controls Syria they will attack Israel.

When did Syria last attack Israel (though potentially Syria could have attacked Israel).

They support the terrorists that attack Israel.

Shhh just like we do.

Here's some interesting reading how Israelis are helping injured civilians and troops from the war no matter who they are fighting for. (As one Isreaeli said, how do you check the credentials of an unconscious man).

Yeah, I'm aware that Israel treats the injured regardless of nationality.

Not many of the general public are.

But a cynic would say and may be right, that actually they are treating their allies against Assad.

From different articles they are treating everyone. In the article I quoted the medical teams find it difficult to identify some of the injured as to who they are fighting. As for doctors their oath is not to refuse anyone
