Attention Tom Sawyer or any other Canadian:

Before Trump was elected we heard of many persons, well-known or otherwise, who promised (threatened?) to leave the USA if Trump were elected. Canada seemed to be a favoured destination (why Canada is probably best left for another thread).
Are there any stats that might tell us how many yanks actually put their money where their mouth is and actually went north (thereby probably increasing the IQ of both countries)?

You do admit that with an insane idiot as president that has no ability to control his mouth it is a good time to leave?

I'm not a yank mate so no I won't be leaving home.

But most elections esp. concerning republican presidents there are all these persons who say they will leave. Just curious how many really do it or are most of them just full of piss and wind?

How many refugees fled Germany immediately Hitler was elected?

You do understand English though?

A good time to leave, right?

A lot of Jews fled, those that could.

Right now Trump's nonsense is mainly harming Muslims overseas. Mainly harming women and children. If he begins to do things to Muslims in the US many will leave. Those that can.

I am not talking about Muslims. But thank you for introducing them into the thread.

I am talking of the pontificating types who inhabit/infect the airwaves who said they would leave if Trump/Bush/other won. How many of them actually went and how many later said they were just kidding?

Last time I looked Bush/Obama's nonsense was still harming Muslims overseas too.

I totally agree and spoke out against both vigorously.

But they are history and a complete mad man has taken their place.

The US seems to be populated by violent religious extremists who constantly kill others as a result of various inter-tribal conflicts and radical Christian* ideologies. We're temporarily halting immigration from the US until our security services have a chance to figure out what's going on.

* I understand, of course, that these are not real Christians and it's a religion of peace which is being misinterpreted by these extremists.

Chelsea Handler was adamant she was leaving. Thankfully she has decided to stay and fight by posting pithy quotes on her twitter.

No evidence a stampede of refugees 'fled' the USA since Trump won,

It's only been two weeks.

He's working on the Jews, I mean Muslims, abroad.

Then the Muslims in THE HOMELAND.

Then maybe a few more undesirables.

Link? Which ones? Then you can maybe tell. We were still waiting for Ted Nugent to go. He must be stuck in Customs and Borders.

I'm still waiting for Ted Nugent to fulfill his promise. He said if Obama was re-elected, he would either be in jail or leave the country. Pussy.

You realize it usually takes years to get residence in another country if you can do so at all?

My wife got US residence in just about the easiest way possible--marriage. It was still over two years from when we started the process until she had conditional permanent residence. Had she not already been in the US when we married much of that time would have elapsed before she was allowed entry.

Now, some people have it easier--marriage + baby goes faster than just marriage.

Two weeks from when we started the process we hadn't even submitted the application yet. It took her a lot longer than that to gather the required documentation and find out what to do about the documentation that did not exist. (Admittedly, this part would have gone faster with a lawyer, and it would go faster these days when everything but documents goes in milliseconds instead of days. Even now, though, it would take more than two weeks to gather it.)

I admit that were I able to get a passport and meaningful employment in another country I would sincerely consider it. This is not going to happen, so I'll just keep my head down, my hoodie pulled up, and hope no one notices how embarrassed I am to be an American. I'm sure Trump has already set up a hotline for his people to call when they notice folks like me.
