The opposing force to organized tyrants trying to turn people into their tools is organized labor.
As the unions have died so has any opposing force.
And the middle class has died with them.
Saying I'm a scumbag doesn't change the reality. You have to kill a lot of people to impose the sort of regime that North Vietnam did.
If the shoe fits.
What the US did in Vietnam and Cambodia and Laos was a major crime against humanity. A holocaust.
Everywhere in the world this is understood except by some in the US.
The difference being that capitalist countries generally commit "war crimes" by allying with one side in a civil war that they think will benefit the capitalist country. Socialists generally suspend civil rights for their own citizens, and then send to the gulag or outright murder those who rebel.
Your commentary is extremely inaccurate. Socialism has nothing to do with suspension of human rights. You are just parroting what the mainstream press has fed you wholesale. The appeal of socialism is that it promotes democratic settling of social issues and attempts to guarantee human rights for all. The assignment of power is almost entirely a capitalistic idea. When it is applied to socialism it really is NOT A GOOD FIT. The top down assignment of power is a characteristic of capitalist domination. It is on the basis of wealth that those who buy the right to assign power can do so. Also we have recently heard on this thread that the North Vietnamese killed more civilians than the U.S. That is almost in the realm of impossible. They did not have a carpet bombing campaign in the war...ever. The U.S. did. The NVA did not have a single B-52, never napalmed a village, etc. They had far more support from the indigenous population than the U.S. could ever dream about.
