Allegedly, a reporter who has been critical of the Saudi regime has been killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. He was a Saudi citizen who left Saudi Arabia to express himself freely as a reporter in the US. He was working for The Washington Post. While it is completely believable that conservatives would do this to someone, it is important to note that it is not yet confirmed. The conservatives may have merely kidnapped him or some other thing. The Washington Post has a good page on this reporter and his stories, worth a read:
Read Jamal Khashoggi’s columns for The Washington Post

In completely unrelated news, the US is astir because a reporter got fired for wearing a MAGA hat while reporting. No doubt this will be used by conservatives as they try to grab more power to blame a so-called liberal media as having bias:
A Minnesota news station has fired one of its television reporters after he was seen wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat while covering President Donald Trump’s rally in Rochester.

James Bunner was let go from his job at KTTC-TV, news director Noel Sederstrom told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, for exhibiting political bias while on the job.

“He violated our policy so he’s no longer with us,” Sederstrom told BuzzFeed News on Friday. “We don’t allow our people to wear campaign clothing while on assignment.”

Just to make the obvious distinction here. (1) a man (possibly now dead) who fled his country because he was in danger of imprisonment for being critical of a tyrant and his death is now being used to scare more people to be aligned to ultra-conservatives in charge of Saudi Arabia versus (2) a man who while working for a private company did not follow a neutral non-ideological policy and now is being used to further increase power of conservative movement.

As a general rule, if you’ve brought a chainsaw with you, you’re not doing “enhanced interrogation”, you’re doing torture.

Could be.

That was completely unreasonable.

For anyone else reading, this story has gotten some media time now.

Saudi Arabie is admitting it happened but says it was an accident during an enhanced interrogation.

Yeah, by now it's clear that Saudi Arabia did it. At first, though, all we had was a source that was not credible.

I don't think Saudi Arabia makes a distinction.

Besides, you might bring a chain saw without intending to use it--but as a contingency plan in case the guy died during the interrogation.

No really that is not all there was. People knew he went there and then he was missing. And Saudi Arabia was not denying it.

The Saudi's story keeps changing. First they claim Khashoggi left the embassy alive. Then they started claiming he died at the embassy but was killed by rogue operatives. Then yes, he was killed, but in a fist fight with embassy officials. Obviously , we can trust what they say, as soon as we can figure out what they are saying about this today. This is all just insane. Did these assholes really think they could get away with this sort of savagery? And Donald the Trump now has to figure a graceful way to pull his thumb out of his asshole and act.

Oh dear, now we have yet a new story. He was accidentally strangled as he was arrested in a choke hold. Story de jure. And if you don't like this story wait awhile and we will have a new one.
