It's ridiculius how pointing black anti-white racism is "white fragility" but incessantly complaining about nanoaggressions (like correcting black students' grammar) is somehow not "black fragility".
Maybe that should be called "Black privilege"?
I've been calling it that for a long time...
A black person gets away with calling another black person "nigger", but a white person cannot.
A black person needs a lower test score than a white person to gain the maximum benefit.
Companies need to ensure they hire "enough" black people, but there is no minimum amount of white people that must be hired.
A black person's grammar may not be corrected (even of they ax you), but correcting the grammar of a white person is not restricted.
Last weekend I was in the woods hiking in a fairly popular location - lots of other hikers around.
A black lady was walking the trail with a "boom box" (her phone playing music on speaker). such a stereotype... but there is no radio playing allowed in this area... it annoys people and wildlife. I let her know that boom boxes and the like are not allowed in the park area because it disturbs the wildlife and if other people wanted to hear music, they would have brought their own.
She said to me, "well then they should have". I said, "well they didn;t because they didn;t want to hear it, so why do you think anyone wants to hear your music that you brought for yourself". She said she didn't have headphones... like that was the end of her explaination for why she was being inconsiderate. I just sat on a rock and let her get far ahead and out of earshot.... but then I reflected on something else that happened last month...
I was on the train and a white lady was doing the same thing... also the same rules were in effect (no boom boxes on the train). I said something to her like, "excuse me, but there is no radio playing on the train... some people may be trying to sleep. She responded, "Oh, I'm so sorry... no problem".. and turned it off.
This is a difference in response I see all the time. Attitude and resistance leaning towards the "I am trying to be a nuisance", versus desire to get along with the group and a general attitude of "I don't want to bother anyone". Why is there correlation with race between those attitudes and why is it accepted?
