First off, everyone is thinking the same fucking Braveheart reference. Don't post it, you're not clever.

Angered by Brexit, thousands march for Scottish independence in Edinburgh

Organisers estimate hundreds of thousands of Scottish independence supporters have marched through Edinburgh, with calls intensifying for a fresh vote on Scotland breaking away from the United Kingdom as a possible no-deal Brexit looms.

This is definitely a thread where I am going to defer to Bilby's knowledge, but I suspect that unless First Minister Sturgeon advocates this with a bit more passion, it won't go anywhere. My concern is that if independence does occur, going by the last UK election results:

Both Scotland and the UK will be de facto one party states. Not a good look.

Let's hope, if there is a fresh vote and Scotland votes for it, that people will respect the will of the Scottish people to exit the UK, instead of the remainers saying it's too hard to leave the UK and we should just hold another referendum until we get a 'remain' majority.

Good point. Didn't think of that.

I had a former friend who lives in Scotland and voted in the last referendum for Scotland to leave the UK. However, she was dead set against the UK leaving the European Union and advocated a second referendum for that, because people (unlike her, obviously) didn't know what they were voting for. I asked her if Scotland had instead voted 'yes' to leaving the UK whether she'd want the will of the people to be implemented without politicians stuffing it up and, after having stuffed it up, use their own incompetence to subvert the will of the people. Pointing out her hypocrisy kinda ended the friendship, but there you are.

There has already been two referendums on Scottish independence which were rejected. But of course the SNP will keep trying until the Scottish people get it right.
