Watch now: Officer reportedly hit with brick during unrest in Kenosha following shooting

Video from the scene shows the officer walking next to a police vehicle when the officer suddenly falls to the ground, and multiple other officers move quickly to aid the downed officer. Shouts of "Officer down!" were heard on the police scanner.

I hope they catch the bastard and that he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law!

Hundreds of demonstrators have taken to the streets in what some are calling riots in Kenosha. Rocks and bricks have been thrown, and at least one molotov cocktail being thrown has been reported, as is property damage. One police vehicle was reportedly "stomped" and then later towed away.

Scanner reports also indicate that an armored Bearcat vehicle was damaged by protesters.

According to scanner reports, a Boost Mobile was looted. "I think we can just leave it be. I don't think we have resources available," an officer was heard saying over the scanner just before 10:30 p.m. after hearing about the Boost Mobile looting.

Same goes for the rest of the rioters.

The cause of the riots is that some thug got shot and wounded by police. The Democratic governor is already jumping to conclusions and stoking the flames instead of calling to hold off judgment until an investigation is done.
Did you catch that? He acknowledges that we do not "have all of the details yet" but he is already calling the shooting "needless" and in another tweet accusing local officials of "racism" without any evidence. What a disgrace this guy is! Even worse than Scott Walker, and that takes some doing!

I don't get it. Guy has cops pointing guns at him commanding him to stop. He just shakes it off and reaches into his car. This is Darwin Award territory.

Same Jacob Blake, from 5 years ago.

Police: K9 Dozer Helps Subdue Man Who Pulled Gun at Bar

Racine County Eye said:
Jacob Blake, 24, of Racine, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count of resisting arrest causing a soft tissue injury to a police officer and one misdemeanor count each of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, endangering safety-use of a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct. If convicted, he will face up to 8-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $50,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, Blake and two women were at the Brass Monkey tavern, 1436 Junction Avenue, Saturday when Blake got into an argument with another patron and pulled a black handgun. Blake pointed the gun at the other man, and the magazine fell to the floor. The bartender told Blake to leave, and he did but then pointed the gun through the window at patrons inside the bar before walking south on Junction Avenue.
[...]
Believing the driver was armed, police conducted a high risk traffic stop, the complaint reads, and ordered Blake to put his hands out the window of the vehicle. Instead, Blake exited the SUV and started walking toward officers and ignored commands to get down on the ground. Officers forced Blake to the ground and ordered him to put his hands behind his back. When Blake refused to comply, K9 Dozer was deployed to force the defendant into compliance.

So he has a history of violent crime, violently resisting arrest and illegally possessing firearms. I wonder if he was going for his gun when he was shot.

The shooting:

This article also states that he had outstanding warrants:
Jacob Blake Named as Man Shot in Kenosha, Wisconsin Police Shooting

Heavy said:
According to Wisconsin Circuit Court Access online records, a Jacob S. Blake, same age and with an address in the same exact block where the shooting occurred, had a warrant issued for him on July 7 on pending accusations of misdemeanor criminal trespass to a dwelling with domestic abuse as a modifier; felony third-degree sexual assault with domestic abuse as a modifier; and misdemeanor disorderly conduct with domestic abuse as a modifier.

Just the kind of guy #BLMers love to champion! Next his face will be on all the murals!

But I am sure the MSM will not focus on his history of violence or his warrants, but will dwell on his reproductive status, as if that was relevant.

You don't get it?

Maybe you didn't see the video.

The funny thing about people pointing guns at your back is that you can't actually see any guns pointed at your back. The funny thing about owning a car is that you are allowed to touch it without getting other people's permission. The funny thing about people telling you what to do is sometimes those instructions are contradictory and sometimes you can't actually hear those instructions at all. The funny thing about reaching into automobiles is that they contain a lot of things that AREN'T dangerous. The funny thing about trying to safely arrest an unarmed suspect is it is a heck of a lot faster and effective if you are using your hands (not your words) to restrain the suspect. The funny thing about executing a person for failing to comply is that it isn't a capital crime.

Was the person in the video black? Was the person in the video not complying with police?

The person in the video therefore deserved to die.

That's the core of what's at the "Black Lives Matter" thing. If you are black, and refuse to comply with police, you life is forfeit. Even if you do comply, it's not guaranteed that you'll survive.

There's really nothing you can do to guarantee that you'll survive an encounter with the police. If you're black, you are utterly at their mercy, and if they don't have any mercy to dole out that night, you're dead.

Sorry about that, but maybe you shouldn't have "resisted" by complying. Or not complying. Or breathing.

There are plenty of videos showing how quickly cops get shot when the non-compliant assailant reaches into the vehicle for something. Cops are specifically trained on this. Spare us your faux outrage.

In defense of people that defend the shooting, I don't watch snuff films, I don't really think they'd give a fuck if the victim was white. These people seem generally fine with police shootings overall.

The issue is that the police are specifically trained to shoot based on their fear not on the actual situation. That is the outrage, as any decent human being can see.

I saw the video. Presumably Trausti did too.

Is that the apologetics that we're are going with here? Look at the first part of the video. Blake is standing next to the passenger side of the vehicle. Then he starts deliberately moving toward the driver's side door. There is no way he didn't know police were there or that they were pointing guns at him. Quite beside the fact that they would be issuing commands, and not just mutely be following him.
Also, he deliberately moved toward the car door. The reasonable assumption by police is that he intended to get a gun, like Jamee Johnson. Why else would somebody do this? And note, Blake had plenty of opportunities to avoid this shooting by just stopping and complying!

The funny thing about owning a car is that you are allowed to touch it without getting other people's permission.
Not if police orders you otherwise.

The funny thing about people telling you what to do is sometimes those instructions are contradictory and sometimes you can't actually hear those instructions at all.
Is there any evidence Blake could not hear any instructions? Or that the instructions were contradictory?

The funny thing about reaching into automobiles is that they contain a lot of things that AREN'T dangerous.
But they can also contain firearms. Which is why you do not go for something in your car when held at gunpoint by police. They WILL think you are going for your gun.

Note that Blake has a history of gun crimes and he also has open warrants.

The funny thing about trying to safely arrest an unarmed suspect is it is a heck of a lot faster and effective if you are using your hands (not your words) to restrain the suspect. The funny thing about executing a person for failing to comply is that it isn't a capital crime.

The funny thing is that Blake could have avoided all that is by complying instead of making police think he was going for a gun. Just like Trayford Pellerin, from Lafayette, LA, could have avoided getting shot by dropping that damn knife. Life is a lot easier if you don't act like a dumbass with police.

Was the person in the video black? Was the person in the video not complying with police?

The person in the video therefore deserved to die was automatically innocent and police a bunch of racists.

That's the core of what's at the "Black Lives Matter" thing.

There you go. Fixed the core of #BLM for you.

If you are black, and refuse to comply with police, you life is forfeit. Even if you do comply, it's not guaranteed that you'll survive.
If you are white and behave like this dumbass did, you are likely to get shot too.
It is a lie, promulgated by #BLM and compliant media, that this is something specific to black people.
It's just that when it happens to a white thug, other white people do not burn down stores and damage paleontology museums.

There's really nothing you can do to guarantee that you'll survive an encounter with the police. If you're black, you are utterly at their mercy, and if they don't have any mercy to dole out that night, you're dead.
You can do plenty to make chances of getting shot by police infinitesimal. Like not moving when police pull their guns on you. Not diving into your car. Not trying to enter a convenience store while armed with a knife. Not attack police and shoot at them with the taser you stole. Things like that.

Sorry about that, but maybe you shouldn't have "resisted" by complying. Or not complying. Or breathing.

He definitely wasn't complying.

Police are not omniscient. They have to go by observables. Like a suspect deliberately moving toward the car and then getting in, while being held at gunpoint.
Fear is just a manifestation of risk assessment using their knowledge of the situation, which is by necessity incomplete. They cannot know for sure whether he has a gun in the car. But he is BEHAVING like somebody who does and like somebody intent on getting to that gun.

The #BLM savages have damaged a bunch of buildings, including a museum.

Businesses damaged, vehicles burned in Wisconsin after Kenosha police officer shoots Black man

At least three garbage trucks were burned out Monday and several businesses’ windows were shattered during unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, following the shooting of a Black man there Sunday. [...]Among the damaged buildings: the public library, the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, the Harborside Academy charter school, a law firm, the USPS building and the county register of deeds.

#BLMers are uncivilized pieces of shit! I am sure, however, there will be those on here who will defend this deplorable behavior.

Then they get the gun. And IFF they decide to use it THEN a violent response is called for.

What part of "they haven't committed a crime or created a real threat" do you not understand?

And you know what? Maybe a cop gets shot. Accepting this risk is part of the cost of having power, as I see it. If you can't accept the risk of having shots fired at you before firing back, get out of the police force.

That apologia is as expectable as it is disappointing. Shooting unarmed civilians out of fear should be unacceptable to society.

Rioting is understandable even if it is deplorable. Of course, the hasty conclusion that the rioting is solely due to #BLM is just as deplorable.

Yes he acted very very unwisely in the situation and put his own life in danger. I would have some sympathy for the officers, as it did not look as if they wanted to have to shoot him. Yes, he could have been going to get a gun. But you don't go to get your gun from your car (and indeed you don't even do anything that might look like that) if you have two cops already pointing theirs at you, unless you're not thinking straight.

But imo it's also fucked up policing methods.

Yes, our policing policies are fucked up. Our police officers are sometimes put into situations where their training encourages them to use lethal force first, and ask questions later. Not complying with a peace officer's commands should not be grounds for summary execution, but that is how many departments train their officers to react. What if the person has mental problems that inhibit their ability to act and interact like normal people, what if they are intoxicated or high, or just having a really bad day, or have been in prior encounters with the police in which they were abused? Do they all deserve to be killed because they are disobeying an officer's commands, and might hypothetically pose some unknown risk to the officer? Policing in America is about enforcing authority at any and all costs, it is not about serving and protecting the communities they police.

I agree. Gotta be better policing methods, surely.

I do however also accept that police in the USA do have cause to be very nervous about someone having or using a gun. And if what I read is true, the victim here, Jacob Blake, did pull a gun while drunk on a previous occasion. And the video posted above by Trausti shows that tasers do not necessarily stop gunmen from shooting police. And I don't agree with the suggestion above that police have to wait until being shot at before firing back.
