Will Putin stand by and let a Kremlin ally get ousted by a mob after “winning” an election? Lukashenko will invite help from his buddy and crush the opposition. It bolsters the security forces morale to know they’ve got the backing of The Kremlin. Then they won’t pull a Ceausescu. I fear that’s what it’s going to take to remove him from power.

If Russia does invade what will be the west’s reaction? With Trump Putin’s bitch, will there be no consequences? I suspect that Trump will ignore it and say there’s nothing he can do. But how will that play in NATO countries like the Baltic States and Poland?

Those NATO countries are really US Protectorates, as is the rest of the world except Russia, China and perhaps North Korea, and will do nothing. The US can increase sanctions. Nobody will start a WW III in defending Belarus.
