Those idiots (most likely Antifa) toppled the statue of Abraham Lincoln and spray-painted "stolen land" on the base. They also broke windows of several businesses and the historical society.

Yea, I feel real bad for the business owners around that area. One of the bars there that was damaged is one of my favorite bars. No respect to those rioters. They are causing far more problems that what they are trying to fix. I suspect that their parents kicked them out of the house and they just have nothing productive to do than make life miserable for others.

They also damaged the Oregon Historical Society building. Stole a historical quilt, threw it in a puddle. Damaged several exhibits. In a touching story, a homeless man left a nice note and a donation to help clean the building:

An Indiana man has been charged after allegedly using a metal baton to smash out windows at the Oregon Historical Society and Portland State University during protests throughout the city on Sunday.
Malik Fard Muhamad was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a loaded firearm in public, one count of criminal mischief in the first degree and one count of riot.

And it's silly to think that the DA plays predominant role in the murder rate in a city. Many factors play a role, chiefly probably demographics. We know from FBI data that blacks commit homicides at 5-6 times the rate of whites. Atlanta is just over 50% black. Portland is about 6% black. That alone could explain most if not all of the murder rate difference.

That demographic fact is also why it is so silly for people like Loren to think these attacks are "false flags" just because so many of the people arrested are white. Portland is an overwhelmingly white city and also overwhelmingly left-wing. So you'd expect the genuine left-wing rioters to mostly be white.

And my criticism of the DA was specific to his vow not to prosecute many of the rioters, at least not the left-wing ones. He even said that that was because he understood how they felt.
