This Greenpeace Stunt May Have Irreparably Damaged Peru's Nazca Site

So you can ignore it again? No thanks.

Scroll up, if you really want to know.

You have done nothing but give an opinion.

You have presented no evidence of any "net harm".

I don't ignore your opinions, I just think they are based on nothing.

Walking near a historic site is another.
That's the second time you've dropped that strawman into the thread. Who has objected to Greenpeace members walking near a historic site? Why do you insist on describing their actions as merely walking in the vicinity of the Nazca site?

There is some drawing on the ground that can be seen in the air.

It has value.

I recognize that value.

They walked near it.

I suppose the only relief is that Greenpeace realized it was a pretty damn stupid thing to do... or at least acting like it to get their people out of the country.

They walked near the drawing. They were on the site. Stuff like that site are extremely rare and to risk any damage is absurd for any cause.

Would you be talking like this if Hitler did it? Would you? ;)

I don't think anybody is saying there is any justification for it.

But there is a bigger problem and it is equally absurd to be fixated on this and not the more significant desecration going on.

According to google they don't let presidents to that site, forget about general public. They only let fly-over visits.
So clearly they think it's too fragile for people running around and putting signs.

The only way to appreciate giant drawings on the ground is by air anyway. And some of you need to stop confusing environment with heritage site. Greenpeace damaged a heritage site not the environment so its not exactly hypocrisy on their part.

I've been to Peru and I didn't even bother going to the sites. Its not a particularly great engineering feet or astounding artistically. I'm don't support Greenpeace but we can take the histrionics down a few levels.

A big "What the fuck were they thinking?" is in order...
When are they ever thinking?
Arresting those Greenpeace idiots is one of the few good things Putin has ever done.

Greenpeace actions are usually removable. They are usually banners or other devices made of cloth. Without further investigation, it would be hard to say if they screwed up or not. Greenpeace is one of the very few consistently environmental organizations on this planet. Is it possible this is is much ado about nothing. You seem to think that continued destruction of ecosystems world wide is okay and Putin is a jolly good fellow. I think they may have a place for you over there in Russia. You consistently seem to have it in for the environment and anybody who cares about the environment.

...regardless, whoever is in charge of their PR should be fired.

These things are not appreciated for their engineering or artistry.
Hardly anything can be compared to modern engineering, their value is historical and they are appreciated for their age and uniqueness.
