    English!

    Thank you. I needed that.

What TV are you watching and how would you rate it? [Revive from FRDB]

I don't know the show but I love your review.

    What Are You Eating Today?

I accept that I will die of a stroke or cholesterol poisoning. If you stir some rice into the gunk left in the pan after you cook spicy Italian sausages it makes the BEST base for fried rice. I will die content.

Which movie did you watch today and how would you rate it?

Emilia Perez 8/10. If they had tried to avoid all the criticisms it would just have been criticised for going in the other direction. (And would have been a different film.) Original take on the concept of the musical and talks about some things that could stand some air. The Mule. 7/10...

    What are you reading?

Taking notes ^^^ In the library the other day a woman was returning a book and said to the librarian "This is the best book I've ever read." I was out of my seat and had the book before it could get to the restock shelf. 100 Years of Betty, Debra Oswald, isn't the best book I've ever read...

What TV are you watching and how would you rate it? [Revive from FRDB]

Thanks for the reminder. I have series 1 & 2 of Northern Exposure on DVD and it would be worth a revisit, for the reasons you give. I watched a little of Snowpiercer. I can't come at many, many aspects of the basic premise. Once you think that a perpetually moving train isn't the answer to...

    Landscaping ideas for destroyed yard

Our tastes differ, I would go a loong way to avoid rhododendrons but they would provide the cover you're looking for. When I built my house I couldn't get the grass seed I wanted. By the time it became available the grasses that had previously been there had re-established. This is a bit of a...

    Things that make you laugh...

We're still apologising for the whole "underarm bowling" event. Shame lives forever.

Actually, you're getting your Kiwis and your Aussies mixed up. We can say "mate". BTW, that cutting demo was fascinating.

    Joke gallery

That joke must be an antique. I remember that punchline being one of my Dad's favourite sayings when I was about 5 - and I am NOT a young woman.

Merged Gaza just launched an unprovoked attack on Israel

Every time you wilfully misinterpret any criticism of Israeli government actions as anti-semitism you conflate the 2. Your last sentence above makes no sense at all, in the context of this discussion.

Merged Gaza just launched an unprovoked attack on Israel

Dr Zoidberg, you conflate "Jewish" and "Israeli". Worse, you conflate "Jewish" and "the Israeli government". There are Jewish people where I live who are horrified at the actions of the Israeli government and there are Israelis, Jewish and otherwise, within Israel who feel similarly about...

    What are you reading?

Derail. A friend was travelling on a river barge in Thailand? some years ago. It capsized and my friend, who was an excellent swimmer, saved a small child. The parents made no attempt to do so and I have wondered for many, many years if that illustrated the acceptance values of Buddhism or the...

I've been bingeing 3rd Rock. Loved it 30 years ago, love it still. What happened to the Big Giant Head? I swear they were in constant communication but Harry hasn't turned into a radio once in 3 series.

    What Are You Eating Today?

I just had an alcoholic breakfast. The last ginger in the house (and it will be a couple of weeks before I can get to Melb. for more :( ) was some I soaked in gin and sugar six months ago. I highly recommend it with corn flakes. But now I have to change my plans to go out and clear up...
