What will be the October Surprise?

I generally vote Democratic too. I voted for Obama twice. I voted for Biden. I did not vote for Trump either time, and I do not plan to vote for him this year either.

Answer me this: If you shut up about politics for the rest of the year
It is actually a fascist ideal that leaders should not be criticized.
I reserve the right to criticize Biden and the Democratic Party and, no, I will not shut up.
Do you honk while goose stepping? Inquiring minds want to know.
According to LD,, Democrats honk while goose stepping.

You think Derec is a Democrat???

Hilarious. The "GOP", whatever its faults, has the grace to use a THREE-letter recognizable acronym. The "DP" spells out its whole name. But just for you we've memorized that "LP" is the official designation of some obscure party (composed of imbeciles and psychos?).

And now you expect us to decipher "LD" ? -- What a joke!

No Biden, no KKK, no Fascist USA

If you like socialism and hate fascism you are inconsistent.

Just a few posts ago, three posters did you the service of explaining what "fascism" even means! Would you like to now replace your .sig with something a bit more intelligent?

Lot of disgruntled republicans in the ranks, these days.

Where do you get to this from what I wrote? I explicitly argued against the "goose stepping" attitude of Swammi that Biden shall not be questioned or criticized.

Hint: it's the poster Jason was replying to. It's not that hard to decipher.

Not exactly Enigma ...

Given that nuclear power is the ONLY practicable path to progress, I would say you just contradicted yourself.
Solar panels and electric vehicles are a distraction; At BEST they can solve maybe a quarter of the problem, while making it even harder to persuade people to do something useful and effective about the bulk of the problem.
Electric vehicles are not a distraction. They are needed to reduce fossil fuel use in the transportation sector. Sure, you can make a lot of electricity with nuclear. But that is not going to help you with ground transportation unless you have electric cars. Making synfuels is inefficient and best reserved for uses that cannot be readily electrified such as jet aircraft.

Solar power also has a place. I understand the drawbacks. But solar panels can be put on existing surfaces such as roofs or on canopies over parking lots with no extra land use. They also allow production of electricity close to end users, reducing the need for transmission lines and associated losses. The electricity demand is also higher during the day than at night.
I am also in favor of nuclear power btw.

Minor nit pick. It was the General Motors EV1, not Pontiac.
And many of the earliest automobiles were electric.
Indeed.

Then the ICE engines got better to take advantage of superior qualities of gasoline and diesel as liquid fuels.

Note that energy density and specific energy of even modern Li+ batteries is much lower than gasoline and diesel, although that is partially compensated by the higher thermodynamic efficiency of the battery and electric motor combo over the Otto or Diesel cycle heat engine. The batteries from a century ago were much worse.

You assume that Harris only was with Brown for political advantage for her career—
It is very likely given their extreme age gap. It is at the very least appearance of impropriety that he put her on state boards.

It’s the type of scenario that usually attracts the ire of the “me too” crowd.

A30 year age gap is pretty gross.
Whether you find it gross or not is irrelevant. The only people that get to decide on a relationship between consenting adults is those adults.

I find the thought of fucking a guy very gross. Yet I'm very glad the female half of the species for the most part disagrees with me.

I know a number of happy couples with a significant age difference. No one seems to be using anyone…
How significant? 60 and 29 are well outside the "half the age plus seven" creepiness rule.

I'm the younger half of a pairing that breaks this rule.

Hitting on someone young enough to break this rule I would definitely class as creepy. However, relationships sometimes develop from proximity. There was no hitting on in either direction, just feeling developing in what should have been a totally non-romantic situation.

De facto one party rule - did you actually read the context? I wrote this in reply to Toni saying that only Democrats should be elected in the foreseeable future because Republicans would be so bad. That is a de facto one party rule.
I admit I'm not thrilled about having a single party majority in national (or state) government as in normal circumstances, having opposition tends to moderate change, which is often a very good thing.
The current political situation is going to be one party rule. The Republicans have ensured we have no choice in this, our only choice is which party. And I'll take the Democrats over the Christian Taliban. We either elect Democrats, or we elect Republicans and have no more meaningful elections in the future. They have made it very clear what they intend.

That is generally because you discuss your distaste with the more prominent now far left wing of the Democrat party than Trump.
That is because Trump has hardly any supporters on here. The left-wing of the Democratic Party has many.
This is a discussion forum, not a ditto circle.
The reality is that most Trump supporters think a discussion is about screaming MAGA and they flame out pretty quickly if they even try.

I explicitly argued against the "goose stepping" attitude of Swammi that Biden shall not be questioned or criticized.
When and where did I "goose step"? I have repeatedly tried to pound into your brain that Biden, whatever his faults, is the one who has the chance to prevent fascist take-over by the Ilk YOU implictly support.

Perhaps you do not "goose step" but you are so infatuated with (the alleged sexiness of?) Sarah Palin that you fawn over her (even subconsciously "promoting" her to "Mayor of Alaska") while managing to insult almost Every.Single.Female.Member of the Democratic Party.

I'm sure you'd have nothing but praise for Boebert and MTG if they were as sexy as your darling Sarah.

As far as leftists go, I'd say you're correct when it comes to nuclear power. However, the portrayal of back-to-nature hippies holding back progress is inaccurate.

Solar is actually creating a problem--in an environment in which nuclear takes the load those solar panels are useless. But if the solar subsidies continue (and note that net metering is a form of subsidy) that means everything else is more expensive.
