You do get my point dob;t you? Culture in the USA has moved from religion to pop culture. It is the same psycho-physical response those feel good baron mescals.

I brought Bob Dylan into question and someone reacted. He will live forever in our culture much like Jesus. People in the 60s made him into their own image. The folk hero versus 'the system', when in reality he is the capitalist for profit system. An convenient fact for the devotees.

Jesus, Dylan, Rolling Stones all the same to me. The Stones have always been a stage act that people lap up. Wealthy players who put on their stage rag consumes and sing about rebellion, and go back t their 4 star hotels. I was having conversation with somemne saiyng that the Stones are the capitaist system but he wou;d none of it, like talking to a theist.

Yup. Everybody's forgotten those four scousers who were said to be "bigger than Jesus". Totally lost to the mists of time.

So unlike gods. You would struggle to find anyone who can't name the reknowned Mesopotamian God of shellfish.

I mentioned the Beatles by their names. When I said Paul McCartney a teenager looked at me with big eyes.
"Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?!"

Not every teenager is ignorant as many are Beatles fans. Possibly this teenager was pranking you.
 
Essentially all the music I listen to when alone was sung before Miss Swift was born. However when playing games with my kids, music videos play on the screen. There are few contemporary songs I like audio-only, but when accompanied by dancing/acting/plot some are quite entertaining.

IMO Swift doesn't have a particularly good singing voice, her face isn't especially beautiful, she is not a talented dancer and she's not particularly sexy. BUT she is at the very very top of my list! She is an excellent show-woman, and she is very creative. She writes her own songs, does most of her own video design and direction. Her lyrics are excellent, interesting, personal and very special. I must agree with Google who notes that she is "one of the greatest stars of all time."
