It seems a week cannot pass without some news story of the left's abandonment of 20th century liberal values and mindless and enthused adoption of governmental authoritarianism as a new hammer to crush dissent. While Klein is celebrating the advent of feminist inquisitions and kangaroo courts on campuses, the Lesbian mayor of Houston is caught up in a growing scandal of her government intimidation and gaystopo like harassment of church's and preachers who do not agree with the new PC 'rights' movement.

Houston’s embattled equal rights ordinance took another legal turn this week when it surfaced that city attorneys, in an unusual step, subpoenaed sermons given by local pastors who oppose the law and are tied to the conservative Christian activists that have sued the city.

Opponents of the equal rights ordinance are hoping to force a repeal referendum when they get their day in court in January, claiming City Attorney David Feldman wrongly determined they had not gathered enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot. City attorneys issued subpoenas last month during the case’s discovery phase, seeking, among other communications, “all speeches, presentations, or sermons related to HERO, the Petition, Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity prepared by, delivered by, revised by, or approved by you or in your possession.”

So what's your position on this max? You really should understand that politicians do try to consolidate their victory with things like new laws etc. Do you really worry about the "gaystoppo?"

I "really understand that (some) politicians" and their supporters who have an authoritarian mindset don't mind using the courts as a tool of repression of free speech. I also know that going after ministers and priests for their sermons is an unusually repressive form, perhaps not experienced in this country since the American revolution (although very experienced in Nazi Germany and Communist countries).

Most moral folk would find that repugnant. One supposes, you find it peachy?
