As I listened to the above video (several months old now) it occurred to me just how courageous Roger Stone is. Whether you like Trump or not you can not listen to this guy without being impressed with Stone. He was in the perfect position to cause great harm to Trump. But in the end, his highly political kangaroo trial could only levy a charge of lying to congress on a minor technicality. The technicality of lying to congress which many others including Comey, John Brennen, James Clapper, Robert Mueller, Rod Rossenstein, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page lied in much more material ways without consequence. It is obvious just about every aspect of Stone's proceeding was either highly biased, tainted, or should have been thrown out due to improper proceedings. And it is also very scary just how much an innocent person can get into trouble living in our supposedly free democracy today. Yes, the United States has political prisoners just like North Korea does today.

But here is the really unbelievable thing about this IMO. Regardless whether or not Stone was really innocent I do not believe many would have been able to withstand what our government threw at him. I know I probably would have caved and told some lie they wanted to hear about Trump just in order to save my own skin. Just to save myself and my family from all the mess.

I think that Stone was (and is) a much better man than I am.

Stone has a fairly extensive political career with high profile individuals. He's not some hobo off the street that somehow got caught up being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

If Trump is that vulnerable to "harm" from people telling the truth openly, he does not stand to remain where he is. You are already lost when you praise someone for not telling the truth in such a situation. When you have a boil, you go in and get it lanced today rather than letting it become a track infection that eats your testicles.
 
Trump is not as bad as most people make him out to be. He's an idiot plain and simple but he's not the supervillain they tried to make Stone expose him to be.

You don't need to be an arsonist to burn down the kitchen. A six year old trying to make some cookies can do it all the same.

You don't need to be a villain to cause a disgusting amount of harm by being somewhere you oughtn't, while doing something you oughtn't.

That said, the child in question frequently gets caught doing things that look suspiciously like trying to burn down the kitchen.

Considering the voter is the jury, if a prosecutor tries to convict a child that accidently burned down the kitchen for arson the Jury may acquit. The same applies to your other arguments. I just don't feel like generating multiple analogies to say the same thing. Call it what it is and it will more likely resonate with people. foolish exaggerations are less likely to work. For example calling Roger Stone a hero is over the top and way off the mark. The OP should have gone with something more convincing like "he had the balls to keep that poker face going while he knew he was lying his ass off". Same thing, just one is more believable than the other.

Having just crunched the longer string through a base 64 decoder, I can emphatically say it just contains a buffer of boring binary data. So disappointing.

You needn't have done so, that long string is preceded with '&gs_lcp=', which is a protocol buffer parameter google is using to make their results load more quickly by eliminating some XML code on the page. The only real information you can glean from the url he posted, other than the exact search term he used, is that he is using Google Chrome (evident by the above buffer), that he started his search from the Google home page ('&source=hp'), and that he has autocorrect turned off ('&sclient=psy-ab').
