Just got an Acer Iconia 8.
All in all, I think it's a pretty good deal for what I paid. I've been without a tablet for a while now, and the thing I missed the most was being able to read digital comic books, and convenience/legibility when looking at big chunks of text (e.g. web pages, social media, message boards).
The reviews I read all complained about the battery life, but for the way I tend to use tablets, this should be more than good enough.
And small text looks really, really good on it. Happy.
- Cheap
- Really good resolution for a tablet in this price range (1920x1200)
- No light sensor, so you'll have to manually adjust brightness
- Lackluster battery (the above makes it worse)
- MicroSD, but only up to 32GB
- No GPS, not that I care. Who uses GPS in a tablet?
- Color fidelity isn't the greatest, not that I care.
- Small text looks nice and sharp (why I wanted a tablet).
- Performance is good for the price (15495 Quadrant score compared to 11891 on my Galaxy S4)
- I assume it's going to look like crap in strong sunlight (haven't tried that yet).
- HDMI port (not normal for cheapo tablets).
- Mine came with a free bumper case
