Addictions Are there addictive personalities or are there addictions out there that haven't found us?

As I've stated elsewhere, I have abused drugs and alcohol. I am a recovering druggy and alcoholic and have been off the stuff since my mid 20"s. Looking back at what I went through and even more important, what I put others through I can say for sure if I hadn't have went into detox and got off that mess, I wouldn't be here to post this, for sure. As it is, those people i knew from that time, who aren't clean today are ether dead or in jail.

I'm glad that I am clean and hope others can find a way out of that, but what strikes me is the idea that many people seem to have their own addictions, that are much less toxic, but are there, none the less. I am talking about people who are addicted to Coffee and Cigarettes, gambling. Some was pornography and other substances and activities.

I was wondering If there is just a certain part of society that just have addictive personalities or are we all like that and just haven't found the thing that will addict us, if found?

It seems to me that Americans are addicted to their Smartphones. It never ends. Yesterday I spotted a family of three (him, her, and their son) all manipulating their phones at the coffee shop. People walk around town staring at phones. They can't be texting or receiving anything profound. Oughta be a law.
And the Trumpies. What the hell is the psychoactive substance, and how does he administer it? (I take Trump Antabuse, which is effective, but it does mean I tend to heave when the news comes on.)
