Actor Alan Rickman had died.

Favorite roles: Severus Snape, of course, and Hand Gruber from Die Hard, Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility, and a hilarious performance as Alexander Dane in Galaxy Quest.

One of my all time favorites. I keep getting the gut punches this week. Now if Tim Curry dies, I'm done (he is also 69). Can't forget Alan Rickman as Marvin in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - or how wonderfully evil he was as Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd.

Also adored him in Bottle Shock and Love Actually.

I don't like thinking of him as Snape. He had way too much of a career to be simply thought of as Snape. He was great in most of his films, including Dogma. He had a great delivery and presence on the screen whether as a bad guy or the voice of god.

He was a generous actor. He could have easily stolen every scene he was in, but he didn't. Very professional and he will be missed.
