Aliens under the Ice – Life on Rogue Planets

Another Kurzgesagt in a Nutshell video. This one is on rogue planets drifting between the stars, and the likelihood they have life tucked away under the ice.

Imagine if planet earth were somehow slingshot out of the solar system through another large object (gas giant, neutron star etc...) passing through. I am not talking about a realistic object in our current time.

Also, let's say that this object was seen with a lead time on the order of years or decades, but it would be so massive that it's path could not be altered enough to keep the earth from being flung out.

What would the best solution to this predicament and what would really happen in the human response?

Good question. I think it would be a scramble between getting some people onto Mars as a viable colony while simultaneously planting a colony deep underground where we could live off the geothermal heat.

But most likely we'd all be extinct very soon. The current life living near our geothermal vents would have a chance to start over.
