A NYT article announces "More Insured but the Choices are Narrowing" http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/13/business/more-insured-but-the-choices-are-narrowing.html?hp&_r=0.

One of the nubs.

The thing you’re buying is access to the provider network,” said Lynn Quincy, a policy expert at Consumers Union. “Right now it feels like you’re forced to guess.

Gee. You have the network describing who and what it is available on line and at both state and federal web sites.

But there's groups like Consumers Union, ostensibly providing research about one's choices, not providing the research and crabbing. Then you have candidates, like Ms. Wehby of Oregon, leveraging off those who don't get to keep the plan they like with "Keep your doctor. Change your senator".

Sure, there are groups who are waiting for things to settle down before they participate in the groupings or holding out as a grouping of one where they have leverage in low served states. Things are still a bit in flux, but be clear, we have care without exclusions, woman's care, equal access within plans, coverage for those up to 27, and a focus on well being rather than procedure before we get into whether plans are too narrow referring back to the HMO resistance in the '90s.

Seems to me the market is saying something, people want affordable health care and they don't mind narrowing their choices to do so.
Blue Shield of California, for example, was able to recruit a fairly sizable group of providers interested in discounting their rates. Just as the plans must compete on the exchanges, “the doctors and hospitals are competing with each other to get in,” said Juan Davila, an executive vice president with the insurer. The next step, Mr. Davila said, is to work with providers to develop more sophisticated networks, where the insurer will team with those doctors and hospitals to provide better care.

I'm thinking republicans are on the verge of a petard hoist gripping about the effects of the market because it is working as markets should.

Your take?

Yeah, Ms. Wehby sounds like a real POS with shitloads of Repug big money pushing her forward. I might have to vote for Dem. Merkley this fall over my typical protest 3rd party vote.
