Are the ethics of this sort of political activity likely to help or hurt the former Soviet Union?

..resident pro-russia trolls immediately begin perpetuating falsehoods and disseminating pro-russian propaganda in order to up the noise-to-signal ratio of the thread.

It's almost as if they're unaware that they're proving the premise.
And you can always be counted on in every thread to bash Russia, Putin or defend militarized American police. By your standards you might be a cia backed disinfo agent.

What. Did you hit your head? When the fuck have I ever done anything other than severely criticize American police? I present criticism where its due. I criticize Putin because he's a fascist dictator playing very dangerous games. I criticize Russia because it worships Putin and seems to swallow the propaganda almost blindly. And I criticize American police because they're a bunch of trigger happy idiots with way too many guns and a complete lack of accountability.

By the way, calling Russia a former Soviet Union is a form of trolling too.

Really? Putin wasn't KGB?

BTW how are Russians doing in Latvia and Moldova and Belarus and Georgia. Any sign of reclaiming like they are doing In Ukraine? Just to make the point about USSR - Russia link.

Problem is Putin inciting Russians to beat nationalist breasts won't produce tanks or motivation to fight among soviets who are longing for yesteryear and sniffing at failed former client states. Someone, methinks, needs cash. Oligarchs have that and they're running for the exits.

Maps are Western media propaganda! Only purpose of maps is to make Russia look bad.

Ooh, ooh, ooh.

Can't make Russia look worse than they already are looking.

Look, another thread about how Russia's using trolls and information warfare tactics to flood the internet with pro-russian/anti-west propaganda and conspiracy theories in order to up the noise-to-signal ratio and obfuscate what's happening...
What is happening and what is being obfuscated?

Besides, the BUK was traveling from the South-West, which was clearly under rebel control at the time. The reason for the diversion could be intense fighting near the airport.
But was that video shot "at that time"?

Yet it was Putin who found a peaceful solution in Syria.

Wikipedia is vile Western propaganda too!

In fact, all of everything generated west of glorious Russian city of Kiev (soon...soon) is lies from fascist corrupt West! Russian missile could not have shot down plane, because all Russian missiles are peaceful!

:tomato:

Is that a fact?

Speaking of which, Almaz-Antey released their own investigation/conclusion/opinion of the sort and it points toward ukrainian forces.

Before you start laughing and crying "Yeah, right, russian lies!" I need to to tell you that Almaz-Antey did not really need to do it and lying would be very costly to them, they are not anonymous trolls from some troll factory in Saint Petersburg or Netherlands, they are huge military contractor which sells a lot of stuff abroad, even Finland have bought BUKs from them in the past. Despite what you think Putin is not all powerful, he can't just tell people in Almaz-Antey to lie no matter what it costs them financially.

I'm confident they discussed it with someone before they went public.
That said, this guy could be right too.
What we have been witnessing is a carefully prepared and coordinated campaign by Russia.

Yes, it could be bad day for Ukrainian side. And I want to stress again, lying would be very stupid for Almaz-Antey, that's a point many commentators make. Having said that, I have doubt there is or will ever be enough evidence to blame either side. So US can keep covering for Ukraine as long as it is useful for them.

I really shouldn't have to explain Russia's ongoing regional destabilization efforts; you can not be that ignorant.

What falsehoods?

For instance the claims that various accusations against Russia doctoring images have been "thoroughly refuted". They haven't been; the trolls are just confusing personal ideological conclusions with reality.

What proof?

When every goddamn time a thread even remotely linked to Russia pops up and the exact same people show up every time to blurt out the exact same type of rhetoric...

...one must conclude the existence of a rather obvious pattern.

Yet it was Putin who found a peaceful solution in Syria.

You mean a peaceful solution to the ongoing civil war? Gee, thanks Putin. Couldn't have done it with you.

More falsehoods. Finland didn't buy BUK's. Russia *gave* them to Finland as a form of debt repayment. So Finland having them is not really some sort of evidence for Russian sales prowess. Finland is also replacing them with the Norwegian NASAMS-2.
