I think the latest tactic is to claim that most scientists support climate denialists, and it is only a few quacks who believe the climate is changing.
This strategy works well, when you look at what this money was actually paying for. It paid for having lawyers attack various scientists and launch smear campaigns. When the rightist minions hear about it, they instantly believe that the target of the attacks is one of the few who believe in climate change, and thus deserves what they get.
Seriously, when are the oil companies and coal companies going to pay a price for launching coordinated attacks on science? At what point do scientists refuse to take their money?
