Some hard core violence going on at Berkeley again;

As supporters and opponents of Donald Trump clashed violently in Berkeley, Calif. on Saturday, video of the confrontations quickly made their way to social media showing the two sides exchanging blows and heated words. One particularly shocking video immediately became viral as it showed a Trump supporter delivering a forceful sucker punch to the face of a young woman who seems to have been completely taken by surprise and fell to the ground. Social media users quickly identified the aggressor as Nathan Damigo, founder of white supremacist group Identity Evropa.

Slate

If you watch the video, there is a big guy wearing a jacket with the words " Jesus Will Judge You" emblazoned on the back sticking the boot into someone on the ground. :slowclap:

So, not only are they white supremacists, but they use a V instead of a U when spelling things?

Not surprising that Berkeley has the pretentious dilettantes in the crowd.

Willingness to use violence against dissenters or out-groups is one of the hallmark features of Right Wing Authoritarianism. There also seemed to be a group of black-clad "anarchists" (read paid agents provocateurs) that instigated the clash, probably to discredit the protestors.

Extremists of the left and right use violence against those they don't like. The Ultra Left focus on suppressing free speech as well as attacking in the same way as the ultra right do.

Here idiots of the left and right had nothing better to do than engage in punch ups.

Some of the more disturbing comments I've seen are Trump supporters celebrating that guy punching that girl in the face.

Trump's "Presidency" has truly revealed the full range of ugliness that's been seething barely beneath the surface. Maybe some day I'll get over the shock of it, but every few weeks brings us some new low, some new revelation as to how awful so many Americans are.

I've been annoyed by, and sometimes even really aggravated by the nagging over-corrections and hypocritical intolerance of the politically correct left. But those ill feelings could always be tempered by the knowledge that these things came from a place of powerlessness. And more and more, it seems it also served to keep these out of the outhouse assholes from turning back the clock 60-80+ years. But now these people are out (so to speak) and it can be directly tied to Trump's appeal to them. Whether that appeal was intentional or some inadvertent aspect of his shameless and incoherent rhetoric, it doesn't matter.

I don't see how this country will ever be considered unified again. Once you cheer a woman getting punched in the face, there's really no going back.

Right... So, Antifa is a real thing in San Francisco. I'm living here right now. You'll hear amazingly blasé talk about "killing fascists." These people are serious. If you watch the clips (on youtube) you'll see the violence this particular brawl was started by Antifa, when a group of them grabbed a dumpster and tried to shove it into the group of Trump supporters. Unfortunately - and this is what I keep saying - these are a bunch of pussies (who would be triggered by the word pussy) - trying to play anarchist revolutionary. Two giant dudes form the Trump supporters caught the dumpster and shoved it back into the Antifa line. Their line broke, and then this was the route. It was a brawl. This chick didn't get sucker-punched, she came looking for a fight, engaged in one, and then got hit in the face.

I can understand that. I've seen things like that live and in person. My problem is the Trump fans cheering it, really loving it.

What should be a moment of "Oh fuck, that's going to reflect poorly on us" is instead, "Fuck yeah! That libtard cunt got what she deserved!" Along with various and sundry calls for more acts of the same nature.

Anti-fascism has always existed, but here in the U.S., it was virtually non-existent until Trump. People are scared of that motherfucker and rightly so. This is a person who has either said that the press should be sued into silence, that protesters should be suppressed by violence, and has in general claimed that the First Amendment provides too much protection. Not that the stupid sack of shit knows the first thing about the federal Constitution, but that's what makes him such a serious threat.

So sure, Antifa may be a bunch of assholes, but this particular bunch of assholes likely only gained any kind of toehold on anything because of Trump.

But at the same time, while she wanted "100 nazi scalps" people cheering her getting hit is not cool.

People are trying to get her info and I think that she has been found to have been in "hairy porn" where she was as unkempt down there as possible. I could not care less about the porn worker aspect.

But what /pol/ and the trad-right are using about her to feel superior as well is that only a few years ago she looked like she could have been a cover model for Aryan Bride Magazine (if it is her) and now looks like a frazzled hippy. She still is pretty if a bit underweight, in my opinion. They say she has a mind virus and is now degenerate. Who knows, maybe she is acting out over some neglect or abuse by her parents or actually is pissed off about legitimate political issues of which there are plenty.

Another aspect to this is that people on twitter are trying to satirize the punch a nazi thing and making it into punch a commie. This humor just doesn't work on twitter very well.

Yeah, she's no hippy peace-nik. She bragged on social media prior to the fight that she was determined to bring back 100 Nazi scalps.

listening to a new interview with a guy from Identity Evropa. The interviewer is Romanian who is anti-SJW, but he also thinks that white nationalists are like SJWs so it should be interesting.

I disagree. Antifa is an extreme manifestation of a general ideological trend that has its roots in post-modernist thought which has come to dominate the humanities and, to a lesser extent, social science departments.

Post-modernism has its roots in the works of men like Heiddegar (who ironically was a Nazi), Derrida, and Foucault (who ironically died flirting with Stoicism). You can think of post-modernism as essentially the position that truth doesn't exist, reason doesn't exist, and claims to knowledge are merely discourses between inherently opposing and adversarial power structures. A lot of it is self defeating, but because they have dispensed with the logos they don't seem to mind, and have essentially been producing masturbatory drivel for the past half-century, especially since most of the people who engage in it now do not have the raw intellectual quality of some of the founders. And that's no surprise, because the only sorts people going into this stuff anymore are followers and sheep - the sort who never question what they are taught by their professors, who themselves were a bunch of followers from a previous generation. In any event, this in combination with the various subgenres of cultural studies, have essentially established a cult that students are indoctrinated into.

And this would be fine, but they are becoming increasingly intolerant. And they outright reject the principles of classic liberalism of the enlightenment, and this is why you see an increasingly violent reaction against people with any sort of conservative or right-wing ideology. To them, speech *is* violence, so they are prepared to counter it with violence.

And my problem with all of this, as a minority, is that these fucking idiots are re-awakening white identity. Something that was dying out, albeit it was a lingering death. Instead, it's being resurrected. And what you see here perfectly encapsulates that. A bunch of fucking pussies who think they are on some sort of crusade against fascism, come to a fight unprepared, and get beaten. Hopefully, this won't be played out in society at large.

Because you know what would have been *even more effective*? If the paltry little march the Trumpsters managed to organize would have gone on and not become news. Instead, they become the heroes. It's asinine. A bunch of idiots being lead by even bigger idiots.

That's the part that drives us nuts. These KIDS honestly think they can go toe-to-toe with country boys and army vets? These pussy-foot white boys with glass jaws and dotting parents? Fucking really? Pardon my vernacular, but 'they ain't about that life.' They need to go home, put their Daftpunk T's and their polo shirts back on and get a grip on reality.

Also hate to break it to you but white supremacy, racism, prejudice and all the ugliness they entail never went away. It was just hidden beneath the surface after it no longer became acceptable to refer to the blacks as "FUCKING NIGGERS" in polite society. That's all. Sorry to kill the mood for you but that stuff is here to stay for a while longer.

But here's a ray of sunshine for you, which might make you feel a bit better.

Trump in relation to the alt-right is a lot like Hillary in relation to the LGBT voting base: A fair weather friend. He'll ditch them under the bus the very instant it proves convenient to do so. While the people trump puts into the positions of power may be another story, I doubt it's intended with any malice for minorities beyond what is convenient for the polls that particular week.

News flash.

Americans used violence to win their independence from the British.

Tyranny brings violence upon itself.

Violence in the face of tyranny is no vice.

Part of living in a democratic society in accordance with the principles we have is understanding that the people can for any reason change said society and it's principles should they desire to. You have no right to incite violence against people who's only crime is exercising the rights they have. If the majority wishes to forsake those democratic principles and rights, then so be it. That is what self determination means.

I have been thinking about this very subject. About how the post-modernism of the left paved the way for Trumpism and its alternative facts. Especially the left's relativism, that truth is not an absolute, that it changes depending on who is viewing it. Is this any different than the views of Trump that facts are anything that supports his viewpoint and that further inflates his considerable ego and that anything that doesn't are fake facts?

I'm pretty sure the pioneers of post-modern thought would have taken issue with "Truth is not absolute" being used as justification by sycophants to espouse demonstrably false narratives. I mean saying that the truth isn't absolute isn't the same thing as saying "Falsities are subjective."

Your justification for the sucker punch is truly disturbing. Pushing a dumpster into a group of people is not a justification for anyone to sucker punch anyone else. And notice I did not bring any ideological labels on either side. It would be just as wrong if the roles were reversed.
