Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter: "Bernie + Cardi = @Ocasio2018" / Twitter
7:23 AM · May 9, 2018

A meeting at The TEN Nail Bar - "The TEN Nail Bar is an elevated nail care experience curated to provide stellar customer service and workmanship (champagne and warm vibes included). The TEN is located in central Downtown Detroit’s Capitol Park neighborhood and in New Center."

Cardi B and Bernie Sanders’s full video, and her longstanding interest in politics, explained - Vox - "The 77-year-old Vermont senator and 26-year-old Bronx rapper met in a Detroit nail salon to talk police brutality, the economy, and health care."

Bernie Sanders was dressed in a business suit without a tie, and Cardi B in a long, slightly transparent blue-green dress. She was wearing very long nails with some color patterns on them.

Cardi B is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, born October 11, 1992, in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York City. She was raised in the Bronx, the northern borough of NYC. She has a Dominican father and a Trinidadian/Spanish mother, and she can speak both English and Spanish.

About police brutality,
“If a police officer kills somebody, that killing must be investigated by the United States Department of Justice,” Sanders said, repeating a position he took in 2016 calling for automatic federal investigations into police-involved shootings.

“I don’t want people thinking that we’re trying to attack the police. Because let me tell you something, there was this one time that I started to feel like I hate the police, they’re pigs. But there’s a lot of cops that go in their jobs and they want to protect their people,” Cardi B said.

“So we need police departments that look like the communities that they serve — we get rid of a lot of this militarization of the police department, which is a form of intimidating people,” Sanders responded.
They also talked about some other subjects, like FDR:
Cardi B has said her favorite president was Roosevelt because of his work to get the United States out of the Great Depression. It’s an affinity she shares with Sanders, whose vision of democratic socialism is a callback to FDR and a revival of New Deal politics.

She is not a fan of Trump. She has attacked the president over his inaction on Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, his criticism of kneeling football players, and his family separation policies. She was one of multiple stars tapped to read parts of Michael Wolff’s Trump exposé Fire & Fury for the 2018 Grammys.

So we are now taking 2 bit rappers as some sort of authorities on politics? But I guess when barmaids can be elected to Congress ...

This nail salon sounds like something 1%ers would frequent. Not quite on-brand for Bernie. Also, I can't imagine Bernie getting a manny peddy or whatever you call that. Dude doesn't even get haircuts. :)

Is Belcalis a liquor brand like Hennessy?

Most of the 1000 odd fatal police shootings we have every year are cut and dry. I can see DOJ investigating a few controversial ones, but to saddle DOJ with investigating every single fatal police shooting is an overkill (no pun intended) and a waste of resources.

Uh-huh.

Look like communities they serve == racial quotas.
Militarization == riot control gear which is necessary in light of what happened in Ferguson, Baltimore, LA, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Minneapolis etc.

FDR wasn't a socialist though. And WWII and associated spending, had a lot to do with reviving US economy. Not to mention US staying pretty much unscathed while Europe and much of Asia were in shambles.

FDR's New Deal policies were roundly criticized as socialist. In fact, I believe that those same policies are being attacked as socialist or a dog whistle version by the Republicans now. Yes, the US came out ahead after WWII because so much of Europe was decimated during the war and the US was almost entirely unscathed.

The rest of your post is a combo of racist and sexist gobblety goop.

You're smarter than that, Derec.

FDR's New Deal policies were roundly criticized as socialist.
People, supporters and detractors alike, who think New Deal was "socialist" also think Denmark is socialist. Neither are.

The rest of your post is a combo of racist and sexist gobblety goop.
Nothing "racist" or "sexist" in anything I wrote. If you have an issue with anything specific, please comment on it, but do not be casting these wide aspersions.
