The Harvard-Harris Poll—an online survey conducted from August 17 to 22—culled responses from 2,263 voters who lean both left and right, along with those who identify as nonpartisan. It asked about their feelings on the Democratic and Republican parties, the biggest political moments of the past few weeks, and what issues matter most to them. It also quizzed them on America's politicians, asking how favorably or unfavorably they viewed certain lawmakers.

Unsurprisingly, Sanders—who's long held the distinction of the country's most popular politician—earned the honor once again. The poll found 54 percent of voters view him favorably, while just 36 percent feel the opposite. No other politician netted support from a majority of US voters from both parties. The closest contender—Vice President Mike Pence—earned a favorability rate of 44 percent.

Bernie still has it.

Trump and Sanders are good at telling the mindless masses what they want to hear.

Bernie Sanders Is the Most Popular Politician in America, Poll Says

Those who tell the mindless mob what it wants to hear are usually popular.

Trump also tells the herd what it wants to hear.

There are at least these 2 reasons why Trump is not the most popular:

1) He's the President. (Sanders would be much less popular if he were President.)

2) In addition to telling the mindless masses what they want to hear, Trump also says other things they do NOT want to hear (i.e., things some of them want NOT to hear).

So Sanders wins the popularity contest, being better at telling the mindless masses only what they want to hear and avoiding saying anything offensive to certain groups.

I.e., Sanders bellows "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!" and that's all. While Trump bellows the same "jobs" babble along with other things which confuse the herd of cattle and cause them to trample each other and stampede in different directions.

For once I agree with one of your posts. That's how political campaigning works.

"Mindless mob", "herd of cattle". Your illusion of superiority is showing.

I thought overall there was a good description, which is also reflective of what is happening in the USA now.

HRC wasn't chosen, she was nominated. She won the democratic nomination. I voted for her.

OK, I said chosen and it should be nominated and you voted for her; I guess we can't all be perfect. :)

Yup. And in a strange coincidence, Mrs. Dittmeyer, the mom on my street who regularly gave all us neighborhood kids free candy, ice cream and pop was voted the most popular mom in the neighborhood. Such a nice lady. Last I heard though, she went bankrupt and is living out of her van.
