As an example,
I want a government run health care system. Health care needs are too complex and changing for the majority of people to sort out on their own.

Luxury cars are completely different. Let Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac duke it out for market share with innovative styling and amenities and whatever.

Health care should not be a competitive market. Cars should be a competitive market.

Funny you bring up being a crime victim because in liberal cities like San Francisco, crime is basically legal now. Organized gangs are randomly running into stores and emptying shelves because they know it's a slap on the wrist. Why is this happening? Because if you view an entie race of people as oppressed, then all of a sudden personal responsibility goes out the window because they are just seen as victims of the system. Small government does not mean no government. It reminds me of those memes "You want the government to stay out of our lives but you want the government to outlaw abortion!"
