Property value is directly related to supply vs demand. When whites discover that most blacks do not prioritize keeping their property in good shape, they start to move out. Then others quickly follow.

Since there is no evidence that blacks do not keep their property in good shape at any rate differently than white folk, that supposition is, at the least, bigoted.

Mumbles thinks it is racism but I honestly think it is concern over property value. Because if it was racism alone, the whites would simply rent out their properties to other blacks and not sell out at a loss. Instead, they fear holding on to property that is quickly deflating in value. If blacks moving in caused property value to increase you would never see whites selling even if they could not stand to live next to blacks. They would hold on to an asset that was rising in value (like property in California for example).

It is like a bank run. And as more and more whites flee, property value drops to the floor. As an owner of multiple rental properties, Ive seen this often enough that I am concerned not to lose money myself.

It's not about property maintenance.

Rather, it's about schools. Whites (and Asians, but we normally talk about white flight) quite rightly are afraid of anything that lowers the quality of the public schools. Despite what the left screams about discrimination, the reality is that schools for the most part are a reflection of the quality of the students they get. When they see an influx of poor students they leave. Even those who don't have kids themselves know what's going to happen and also leave.

Now, the influx is usually black or Hispanic students but you'll see the same thing with a bunch of students who have limited English no matter what their skin color is.

All you need to do is to find some studies that show that black/Hispanic parents are not at all interested in education, and you're all set. So, I encourage you to go to google, and tell us what you find.

because I'm sure you'll find junk that fails to directly address the issue. But what you have reminded me of is that I should consider continuing onto a discussion of the historical and current treatment of education in African-American communities, and why the famous study on "acting white" was deeply flawed. Although to be honest, I have other things on my plate...
