#blacklivesmatter presidential debate?

Disproportionate to what? Their share of population? Sure, but not disprportionate to their share of violent crime.

Violent crime is related to poverty and blacks suffer poverty disproportionately.

But the issue of police abuse is a debate that will never happen in the Republican party.

There are two big problems with #blacklivesmatter. Their racial focus and their lack of discernment when it comes to choosing worthwhile subjects to get outraged about. They still claim Michael Brown was innocent for example! Their closeness to radical and overtly racist groups like Nation of Islam and New Black Panther Party is also problematic, as is their closeness to Palestinian radicals and anti-capitalism.
The latter two show that #BLM has lost whatever focus they might claim and has become yet another radical lefty group.

Michael Brown was shot in the back trying to run away.

The used to call that a crime.

And cowardice.

You still don't shoot people for shoplifting. I believe the Brown shooting was a followup to the theft of some mini cigars. That is really something to be shot to death over? Face it. These cops were racists. If they had shot a white man over mini cigars, things would have been different. The guy would not have lain in the street for four hours unattended and untreated. He would not have been shot in the first place.

Sorry. There have been so many shootings of unarmed young black men.

Shot twice in the head and twice in the chest.

And the cowardice remains.

Plenty of people in poverty choose not to commit violent crimes. The responsibility is still on the individual and there is no legitimate reason to excuse poor choices by some because of their skin color.

Michael Brown was shot in the back trying to run away.
No, that falsehood has been disproven by both state and federal investigations.

You still don't shoot people for shoplifting. I believe the Brown shooting was a followup to the theft of some mini cigars.
Robbery, not "shoplifting" or "theft". And he wasn't shot for that, but for attacking a cop.
That is really something to be shot to death over?
He wasn't shot over a robbery, or over jaywalking.
Face it. These cops were racists.
There is no evidence whatsoever that Wilson is a racist. False allegations of racism are another reason why #BLM is a bad movement.
If they had shot a white man over mini cigars, things would have been different.
Deven Guilford was white and he likewise attacked a cop with the same result - he got shot to death.
The guy would not have lain in the street for four hours unattended and untreated.
He died instantly so he was beyond "treatment". And an ME has to be present for body to be moved. It's not a fault of the police that the ME on duty was engaged elsewhere.
He would not have been shot in the first place.
Doubtful.

Poverty is associated with violent crime in all races.

Wishing it were different doesn't change anything.

Yes he was just shot twice in the head and twice in the chest.

But the cop was scared, so no crime.

So Derec, you really are a smart fellow who has all the answers. Pardon me for assuming I had any right to state my own opinion which obviously is jaded by a number of years living in impoverished communities, but I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about. That is the shallowest of excuses for refusing examination and treatment of a victim of police shooting...the ME was out. That person could have been transported by emergency vehicle to the hospital and pronounced dead there. The police allowed this guy's body to just lay in the street unexamined for four hours.

In a town where they shoot people for stealing cigars, they better have several ME's on duty all the time. EMT's can transfer freshly shot people to hospital using all the rescue gear they have and maintain blood flow and oxygenation till relieved by a doctor. The man did not have to lay in the street for four hours. The cops shot him and denied him any chance at all of survival with their (and your) lame excuse. They murdered him and all their actions reflected that intent.
