Canada Votes Today...

Carney and Trump, what is next. My approach would be simply. I'd bring some models with me, a dam, a barrel of oil, and a presents (remainder of trade). I'd indicate that this is our trade with you. We'll be happy to take away the electricity and oil/gas, so we no longer have a trade surplus with you. We agreed? Atlantic Canada can use that electricity, Asia, can use our oil and gas. Carney can explain he is already in talks with the Quebec Provincial government about a pipeline to the east coast.

Trump can go into banks and dairy, but the lies mean a lot less and Carney ain't going to balk with them. Trump is a pretend businessman, Carney is an actual one. And I think he'll want to expound on the fact that Canada doesn't have to give the US anything, because both countries benefit with trade from one another.

A competent, well educated, ethical, serious leader? Why can't we in the US have that? 😕
US system has two things that Canadian (or other parliamentary systems) don't.
  • the president is both the head of state and head of government
  • the president is (sort of) directly elected
This lends itself to more flash in elections.
How Mike Bloomberg describes [Mark Carney]:
Incidentally, I think Bloomchen would have been a much better "old white guy" 2020 president than Biden turned out to be.
I do not think he would have let himself be pulled to the left like Biden was.
Oh goody, an elitist capitalist in charge.
Unironically this. He is well educated and seems competent, which will be much needed to navigate the stormy waters ahead, what with the Orange Toddler and his idiotic tariff policies.
Patience, young Grasshopper. Newsom will save us.
Goodhair has a couple of albatrosses around his neck. 2028 is too far away for any intelligent predictions of the primary landscape though.

Liberals are going to fall just short of a majority.

The current standings have the Liberals two seats shy of a majority government, with 170 MPs. The Conservatives have 143 seats, the Bloc Québécois 22, the NDP seven and the Green Party one.

There are still two outstanding judicial recounts, but the Liberals need to hold one riding and flip another, meaning the most seats they could have is 171.

As opposed to the USA?
Right now, the most powerful person in the country is an African immigrant with the morals of a rattlesnake.
Tom
You insult rattlesnakes! Don't provoke them, they'll leave you alone. They're only a problem for those who pester them or those unlucky enough to step on them or the like. There are rattlers out here, don't put your hands or feet where you can't see and you're fine. Just look at snake guards--protecting the front, not the back. Something coming after you will probably come from behind, protection only on the front means it's protecting you from something defending itself. (Not that I even own snake guards, there's not enough grass for a snake to be hiding in around here.)
