I get that China is shitty. I really do. They are committing genocide and ushering in a police state. They are trying to consume the world's chip manufacturing infrastructure and claim it is already done to their own people.

Every developed country on Earth is rushing to make Taiwan unnecessary to the world availability of computing infrastructure. And when it happens, an atrocity will occur.

There were several near nuclear wars between USSR and the US. While Russia was expansionist (you can argue that the US was also); Russia had no economic ability to hurt the US. China can. China is expansionist and would like to conquer Taiwan. Forget for a second that Taiwan is a sovereign country that has done nothing to gain this level of bullyism. But the Chinese invasion will also destroy the world's economy. We could go into recession due to supply chain and chip manufacturing. Think what will happen when china attacks Taiwan. We'll need to go back to transistor bulbs after China destroys Taiwan. The world is a in lot of trouble and I really don't see a way to prevent it. China's bruised ego could destroy the world... No, we won't have that level of loss. But I agree that China wants to create "chip race", wherein the decentralization of computer manufacturing infrastructure creates "winners" and "losers" where we all previously shared the well socially.

Chip infrastructure build-out is taking off internationally. Personally, I think that any new chip plant should just have a nuke with a democratically triggered mechanism: if a majority of world leaders decides a chip fab should go down, it should. Just dispense with this cat/mouse missile development bullshit. Just accept it for what it is, everyone on earth being kept hostage by everyone else.

The US has more nuclear warheads on our boomers than China has in total, and we have more than 10x warheads in total. MAD is not at risk for at least 10-15 years...

I don't know if China has deployed a space-based nuclear attack capability, but they may have. They certainly want the rest of the world to believe they have that ability, and I'm not sure it's a bad thing if the rest of the world assumes that they do. The offensive capabilities of the USA, China and probably several other Countries incl PRK, exceed the defensive capability of any country. It's not likely that any first strike would ever go un-punished, and it is therefore unlikely that even the craziest among them would ever launch a nuclear attack.

You could probably detect a nuke falling on you from low earth orbit... at least a few seconds before you're vaporized, if you have sufficiently sophisticated detection equipment.

It's fascism/strong-man governments that we have to worry about, specifically. The USA is definitely vulnerable to that these days, but it's far from alone in that.

The advantage of hypersonic travel is not being undetected... they are detected the same as any object of sufficient size. With light, not sound. The advantage is it is very hard to intercept such an object from a ground-controlled flight-based countermeasure. One would need to use light (laser) to counter a hypersonic missile... without another, faster, hypersonic missile.

It does not sound like exaggerating to me. China is very much ahead of the US right now in practically every measure.

There is one thing good I can say about this though. At least now the even the slowest liberal dimwits are going to realize that Russia has never nor will ever be the threat China currently is. Perhaps we will finally get over having to endure any more impeachment trials over a Russia conspiracy threat.
