Chris Rock interview

I'm sure the conservative white vote would happily give up the police state even if it meant less blacks were killed.

Apparently not since they keep voting in politicians that prop up this system.

That is way too broad of a sweep. You need to name specific politicians and specific voting blocks. And when you do I'm gonna be too lazy to look up counter examples. Maybe someone else will. My hunch is that it's mostly the moderates who let this happen.

There's another dimension to the L&O crowd. They want the foot of the police on the necks of minorities, and if that costs a few lives, so be it. Why? Because they believe without what many would call oppression but they would call vigilance, the criminal elements will grow and take over.

Here in NY, it's openly said that ending stop and frisk means that the city will descend into chaos. And that is the view of most of the police. I would guess that the attitude of the Ferguson police is the same if not more so.

So, do conservatives want more dead black men? Not in a body count sense, but they are willing to accept more killings if that keeps the lid on crime.

Typical conservatives that you are describing don't live in NYC. It's mostly liberal progressives. And they are happy to trade safety for freedom. Obama won NYC 5-1. Rednecks live out in the country. And most Republicans live in the suburbs.

We have enough conservatives here to populate at least a couple of those big empty red states.

NY is fairly liberal, but not as liberal as you might think, especially when it comes to racial issues. NY has one of the most segregated school systems in the country. Guiliani was elected on a law and order ticket, even though Dinkins did most of the heavy lifting, tho crime was going down anyway. Bernard Goetz is a hero to whites here.

Anyway, granted there are fewer conservatives proportionally, but those L&E views are common among the police. Ray Kelly is a stop-and-frisk doomsayer.
