A simple one is the circumplex model or the valence-arousal model. It may be illustrated with this table:

A = arousal, V = valence.
It is closely related to these dimensions of personality:
E = extroversion, N = neuroticism,
two of the dimensions of the OCEAN five-factor model of personality.
