Also, we found out who Starlord's father is: Ego the Living Planet.

Ordinarily, I would say "What the fuck is Marvel thinking? That character is way too goofy for the big screen!" but what the hell do I know? I thought the same thing about Rocket and Groot, and they were probably the most popular thing in Guardians of the Galaxy (something else I would've thought too silly for the big screen).

Cripes, Marvel even made me like Ant-Man. I never liked Ant-Man all that much.

Anyway, there were a ton of announcements at Comic Con this year, so talk about whatever you feel like discussing.

First movie that I don't want to see a sex scene in. Well... other than Basic Instinct 2.

Wonder Woman and Justice League already feel different from BvS, if only in colour tone.

Wonder Woman was pretty much the best thing in Batman v Superman.

If you watch the Justice League "trailer" released at Comic Con, I really like this version of the Flash.

Ya, it looks like they directly copy-and-pasted that scene from the Iron Man / Spider-Man scene from Civil War. I liked that scene, so it was nice to see it again.

I really hope this is an epic troll by Marvel, sure maybe Kurt Russel is playing Ego, but Ego being Starlord's father? It has long been established that his father is King J'Son of Spartax. Marvel did just recently kill off J'Son (and pretty much destroyed Spartax) in the comics, but I don't get this move at all. The first GoTG movie was so good, I hope they don't screw things up by trying to shoehorn something like this in.

The MCU has a lot of leeway to monkey with the backstories, and I'm OK with that. Frankly, many of the changes they have made have been improvements.

True enough, but I am not sure how this one works. J'Son appears to be human, as do all Spartaxians, so it would be easy for him to come to Earth and have a relationship with Starlord's mother. Ego is a fucking planet, it's gonna be hard for anyone to miss an entire planet dropping by to pick up Earth chicks. I guess the easier way out is to turn her into space traveler who somehow managed to visit Ego, and have sex with the planet, without realizing that she was having sex with an entire planet. Or maybe tentacle rape is involved. Either way, it is going to be tough to pull off without making it seem entirely idiotic. I am still holding out for Marvel revealing that they trolled everyone when the movie comes out next summer.

I can see them saying, "We made it all very mysterious in the first movie, did you honestly think we were going to spoil the surprise a year before releasing the second one. Here's Kurt Russel as Ego, but here's Starlord's real father."

James Gunn seems to really like the extra goofy parts of the Marvel universe.

If he made me like Guardians of the Galaxy, including the goofy raccoon and talking tree, I'll trust him on this.

Honestly, my main disappointment is that Gamorra doesn't have the yellow eye shadow thing.
