Now that you've been given both houses of congress it's time to govern.

If you mean impeach Obama for Benghazi, then yes, it's time.

2 years of a GOP dominated congress is pretty much going to guarantee a Dem win for presidency in '16. Now if people would only learn this time that they are not on your side!

It'll be interesting to see what they do.

I just wished the marijuana ballot measure had passed in my state so I could just sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

They will have a few months to find an agenda that is not all about " Obama bad".
And I am sure it will include real immigration reform, funding the repair of the infrastructure.A wise energy plan.Addressing climate change. Creating real job in America.Campaign finance reform.Safe, affordable abortions.Easy voting.Fair minimum wage.Real health care reform.

Ok, time for predictions on what the new congress will actually move on.

My predictions:
Impeach Obama - starts within the first month
Tax 'Relief' for the american people (who make more than $200,000) - at least one submitted within the first 4 months

National voter ID - the only way they stand a chance of winning the next election.
Quarantine of anyone coming into the US from anywhere in Africa, so as to keep us safe from Ebola.
Sucking massive amounts of Koch.

The House will vote for the 124th (more or less) time to repeal the ACA.

This time the Senate will take it up and send it to the President, who will veto it.

Do you think GOP will have enough votes to break the inevitable filibuster?

They can add the repeal of the ACA as an amendment to a bill offering free smiles and happy thoughts to the nation's military.

The Senate would still need to override a filibuster.

Very close to pass though...57%. Which I will safely assume it will be back on the ballot in 2016 and will pass with flying colors. Our pro medical cannabis activist groups have now 2 years to plan for a far more effective campaign than the one which failed to convince 60% of voters that the text law escorting Amendment 2 would prevent misuse and abuse. 2 years to educate Floridian voters as to the highly effective and potent therapeutic qualities of cannabis.

And don't forget 2 years for old voters who probably voted against it to die off.

Not necessarily. Obama and Dem policies already did things to stop the economic hemorrhaging and begin a recovery that will continue to reap positive improvements over the next couple years. Most Americans are more than stupid enough to buy the coming rhetoric that the new Republican controlled congress is responsible for any such improvements. Plus, the Republicans are more than willing to deliberately harm the public and the economy in order to make Obama look bad. Marketing is mostly about lies and manipulation, so the less ethical you are, the better you tend to be at marketing and spin. That is why the Repubs are consistently better at it the Dems and could easily con the public into giving them credit for any positives and Obama blame for any negatives over the next 2 years.

Never underestimate the ability of the Dems to lose elections and policy fights on which they have a major advantage on objective facts. Unless some amazing candidate they cannot pass on comes along, they will likely nominate Hilary mostly based upon their silly sense of seniority, party loyalty, and desire to make gender history rather than on who the best candidate is that can win in the general election. If Hilary is nominated, they could easily lose.

I think the Republicans have won themselves a bit of a difficult situation. It is one thing to talk against Obama, and skate by on saying the other guy is a fuck up, and a whole other thing when you yourself actually have power to change things. People will expect them to follow up their talking points, and I wonder if they will really want to. Yes, they will move to impeach Obama, and that will be a major focus for them, but what about everything else. Will they really take down the ACA, when so many have come to depend on it now?

They can't talk as big as they did before, and can't position themselves as the alternative outsider looking in as much, and I think that is a major roadblock to them winning the white house in the next big election.

I'm looking forward to enjoying the huge fit they throw the first time the democrats use the filibuster.
