Democrats support terrorists then, they support terrorists now.

That's trying to compare parties from 150 years ago with the present. That's not a meaningful comparison.

Furthermore, any site that pops a time delay (no close button) box on top trying to get us to do a Facebook like is a garbage website.

Democrats supported the KKK, then. Democrats support the Muslim Brotherhood now. They're in the White House advising Obama. No difference. Try again.

a little history lesson from people who ignore certain parts of history, like the 20th century. Little things like the civil rights movement, the southern strategy, etc. Oh, and who supported the Contras.

Democrats did support the KKK.

But when the 1964 Civil Rights Bill passed these Democrats became Republicans and the Republican party has been the party supported by racists ever since.

Do tell. Can you give us a couple names?

A larger percentage of republicans voted for the civil rights act. Democrat Robert Byrd filibustered. You're familiar with Robert Byrd?

Strom Thurmond - originally Democratic senator, ran for president on a pro-segregation platform. After civil rights became a Republican.

A notable racist that switched parties was Ronald Reagan.

You also have people like Strom Thurmond.

Oohhh, the political party of which you're affiliated has a racist past and currently has racist members, even policies. Wow. This only applies to, about 100% of the population.

Anyone here want to defend the Muslim Brotherhood advising your president?

I will. I will also defend the Black Panthers and Nation of Islam.

Then you're the enemy within. Domestic terrorist and racist. You're the enemy of liberty and the American citizens who love their country. Your ideas have to go the way of every other evil ideology.

Yes, indeed this is true. The Republican party was the progressive party when it was founded. The Democrats were the conservatives, they wanted to preserve slavery, to preserve the social order, the status quo.

But over the next one hundred and forty years or so these roles reversed and the Democrats are now the progressive party and the Republicans are the conservatives who fight change, who want to preserve the status quo.

It would be important to remember that the Southern Democrats in the 1870's were by and large people who had committed treason against the United States by participating in an armed rebellion. This is pretty much the highest order of terrorism that you can have.
