Democrats trying to unseat each other IV

WATCH: Rep. Thomas Massie's full concession speech after defeat in Kentucky GOP primary | PBS News
"I would have come out sooner, but I had to call my opponent and concede and it took a while to find Ed Gallrein in Tel Aviv," Massie told the crowd.
He could not resist that bigoted quip, eh?

But what does Massie have to do with "Democrats trying to unseat each other"?

That said, I think he, Tucker Carlson, and the Hamas contingent of the Democratic Party (The Squad and Hasan Piker disciples like Abdul El-Sayed and Adam Hamawy) should just create their own "for the many, not the Jew" party. And they can take Maureen Galindo, who wants to put Zionists in concentration camps, with them too.

To actually talk about "Democrats trying to unseat each other" Al Green lost his primary, largely due to redistricting.

Al Green is representing the old 9th district. Manefee is currently representing the old "Supercroatia"-shaped 18th and has now won the primary for the new 18th.

One should have a sense of humor.
But what does Massie have to do with "Democrats trying to unseat each other"?
Because he suffered what several Democratic politicians suffered in recent years.

There are plenty of Jews who oppose the Netanyahu regime and its campaign of genocide and wars of conquest.

Humor can still be bigoted.

Kind of the opposite. Many Dems are being targeted by extremists for being pro-Israel.
There are plenty of Jews who oppose the Netanyahu regime and its campaign of genocide and wars of conquest.
It is one thing to oppose a particular government. It is quite another to oppose the country itself. Especially using language such as "genocide" for that country defending itself against genocidal attacks on itself.

In NJ-11, Analilia Mejia won. With 86% counted, she got 81.6% and her opponents 6.8%, 6.1%, 5.5%.

Seems like AIPAC decided not to challenge her. In a special election some months earlier, AIPAC scored an own goal and let her be elected by opposing a candidate who was not sufficiently hardline Zionist for its taste. That special election was for being in Congress for the rest of this year. This election is for the next full term.

She is likely to win the general election.

AIPAC was more careful in IL-09, with Daniel Biss barely beating Kat Abughazaleh.

Another victory: in NJ-12, Adam Hamawy, endorsed by Our Revolution.

It's ridiculous that Democrats, especially self-described "progressive" Democrats, are supporting somebody like Hamawy.

And it's also ridiculous that Hamawy can win with <30% and of the vote. Especially given that it is a safe district, i.e. the general election is not competitive. And the voter turnout wasn't great either, given that Hamawy is only getting ~20k total votes, which is ~2.5% of the total population of 808k.

I don't know what that refers to, but Adam Hamawy was one of 13 candidates, with vote percentages 28.1, 14.9, 9.3, 9.0, 8.9, 8.4, 5.5, 4.5, 4.0, 3.0, 2.1, 1.5, 0.9. Using Effective number of parties - Wikipedia I find an effective number of candidates of 7.08. With all those candidates running, it is not surprising that AH won with that small a fraction.

Montana First Congressional District Primary 2026: Live Election Results - The New York Times - "Sam Forstag, a union smoke jumper, is backed by Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He faces Ryan Busse, who was the party’s candidate for governor in 2024, and two other candidates in the contest to replace Representative Ryan Zinke, a Republican who is not seeking re-election."

Sam Forstag 37.3%, Ryan Busse, 33.1%, others 21.7%, 7.9%

Election Live Updates: Races Are Close in California With Many Votes Still to Count - The New York Times

Sam Forstag, a former firefighter, has declared victory in a competitive Democratic House primary in western Montana, but The Associated Press has not called the race. “We did it, Montana,” Forstag, who was joined on the campaign trail in recent days by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, wrote on social media. He faced Ryan Busse, a former Democratic nominee for Montana governor, in a primary in a conservative-leaning district that Democrats hope to flip.

Ryan Busse, a former gun company executive, conceded to Sam Forstag, a former firefighter and union leader, in the Democratic House primary in Montana, although The Associated Press has not called the race. Busse said in a statement that he called Forstag on Wednesday morning to congratulate him. “Now is the time to come together and fight for the Montana we all want to see,” he said. “That means helping Sam Forstag defeat radio shock jock Aaron Flint.”

California Governor Primary 2026: Live Election Results - The New York Times - 61 candidates - "Gov. Gavin Newsom cannot run again because of term limits. The leading Democrats trying to succeed him are Xavier Becerra, a former California attorney general; and Tom Steyer, a former hedge fund manager. Steve Hilton, a former Fox News host, is the top Republican."

About California races in general:
The top two candidates in this primary will advance to the general election in November, regardless of party affiliation. Most Californians vote by mail, and ballots postmarked on or before Election Day have one week to arrive. In the 2024 primary, about half of results were reported by 5 a.m. Eastern time the day after the election. It took 10 days before 95 percent of results were reported.

At 58% counted: Steve Hilton R 27.8%, Xavier Becerra D 25.4%, Tom Steyer D 19.6%, Chad Bianco R 11.3%, Katie Porter D 4.6%, Matt Mahan D 4.1%, Antonio Villaraigosa D 1.3%, Tony K. Thurmond D 0.7%, Betty T. Yee D 0.5%, Ramsey Robinson PF 0.4%, Eric Swalwell D 0.4%

R = Republican, D = Democratic, PF = Peace and Freedom. There are also Libertarians and Independents.

So California avoided the nightmare scenario of Democratic candidates splitting the vote so much that only the two top Republicans make it to the general election.

In other races, in CA-07, with 47% counted, Doris Matsui is being challenged by Mai Vang, someone who is barely ahead of Republican Zachariah Wooden. Will MV stay ahead when the other 53% are counted?

I don't know what that refers to,
What do you mean by "that"? His association with the Blind Sheikh, the organizer of the first WTC bombing?

It may not be surprising, but it is undemocratic. A better system would guard against vote splitting in crowded fields by requiring a runoff - either a traditional as is common in the South, or some type of instant runoff.

In this case, >70% of Democratic voters voted against Hamawy, and yet he is now a shoo-in for that House seat. How is that ok?

Did AIPAC stretch itself too thin?

Looking at his career, it seems that Dr. Adam Hamawy is a very worthy citizen, and a very courageous one. He was born in Egypt, but his parents immigrated to the US when he was a baby, taking him with them.

Former US Army doctor Adam Hamawy will win Democratic House primary in New Jersey | CNN Politics
His win comes after critics resurfaced his past association with Omar Abdel-Rahman, a blind, Egyptian-born cleric who was convicted of seditious conspiracy in a case related to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Hamawy was called as a defense witness in the trial.

In a statement, a campaign spokesperson said Hamawy “condemns that man’s violent rhetoric and actions, and all violence, hatred, and terrorism — and he will always,” adding that “these bad-faith, guilt-by-association attacks on Muslim and Arab candidates are nothing new in our politics.”

“As a witness, he performed his civic and legal duty to testify truthfully under oath and contribute to the system of laws and justice he defended while serving our country in the Army. At the time, the man in question was one of very few religious figures in what was then a very small Muslim community in New Jersey – he saw him speak in religious settings in his early 20s,” the spokesperson said, noting Hamawy did not have contact with Abdel-Rahman following his arrest.

“Dr. Hamawy won this race the old-fashioned way by outworking his opponents, out-organizing the establishment, and building the progressive coalition needed to deliver his people-first vision to New Jersey working families,” Alexandra Rojas, the executive director of Justice Democrats, a group that works to elect Democrats who don’t accept money from corporate PACs, said in a statement.

Hamawy was among the most progressive candidates in the race — he supports Medicare for All as well as canceling medical and student loan debt. He is outspoken in his support for Palestinians and has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, where more than 70,000 people have been killed.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth endorses House candidate who saved her life in Iraq
More than 20 years after Tammy Duckworth’s helicopter was shot down in Iraq, the Democratic senator from Illinois is endorsing a surgeon she credits with helping save her life.

...
Duckworth said in a statement that when the two first met, Hamawy had “volunteered to serve in combat and worked around the clock to save my life, just as he has for many others.”

“It is because of his sacrifice, that I’m not only alive — but I’ve been able to go on to serve my country and the people of Illinois in the United States Senate,” the senator added. “Working families in New Jersey and all across America are looking for leaders with the courage to speak truth to power, the willingness to call out injustices at home and abroad, and the determination to spend every day working to make their lives better. Dr. Hamawy is that leader, and I’m so proud to be his friend and endorse his campaign for Congress.”

The pair have known each other for more than two decades, going back to when Hamawy encountered Duckworth in Iraq in the hours after she sustained injuries that led her to lose both legs and the partial use of her right arm.
Then when he and fellow aid workers were stuck in Gaza,
Duckworth used her post in Congress to help Hamawy, who had been in the region working with other doctors to administer emergency medical assistance to Palestinians.

“My team got trapped. We couldn’t leave, and she was instrumental in helping us get out,” Hamawy said. “I mean, there was really no way for a while. There was no one that was listening to us, and we weren’t given an option of when or how, and she stepped in.”

Who is Adam Hamawy? Doctor who served in Gaza is on the path to US Congress | Israel-Palestine conflict News | Al Jazeera
Speaking to Al Jazeera in April, Hamawy recounted his experience travelling to Washington, DC, following his medical mission to the Palestinian enclave in 2024.

“[I was] talking to lawmakers and our representatives as a witness to say: This is happening there,” Hamawy recounted. “This is real. This isn’t fake news. This isn’t just on social media. I’ve experienced it, and this is what I saw in my own eyes.”

He received a mixed response. A handful of lawmakers spoke out against the war, citing his testimony. Others expressed private condemnation but did nothing publicly, and some closed their doors to any meeting with Hamawy.

“This is what prompted me to run,” he said. “We need more [elected officials] that are brave, more that will actually act upon what we know is wrong.”

As a representative, Hamawy hopes he can help steer the House to confront Israel’s genocidal war and the US role in it. “I felt I had to go to Washington to fix this myself.”

Whatever might make that a "nightmare scenario".
His positions are much further left than those of Baccera. He has been a big opponent of domestic oil and gas production, and the necessary pipelines to move it. He also wants to criminalize immigration enforcement.
Steyer announces plan to jail ICE agents, calls agency a ‘violent extremist group’

I have not heard him say any good things. He was dead wrong on DAPL and fracking for example.

I don't know if they did. Possibly.
But what is clear that while fauxgressives vilify AIPAC they have no qualms about the Palestinian superPAC which gave millions to Hamawy.

That's your opinion. I think it's ridiculous he gets support from people calling themselves "progressives" when he supports regressive jihadists like the Blind Sheikh.

That is bullshit campaign speak. In reality, he was a close associate of the terrorist leader, even translating Arabic faxes for him.
“As a witness, he performed his civic and legal duty to testify truthfully under oath and contribute to the system of laws and justice he defended while serving our country in the Army. He was only in the position to testify on Abdul-Rahman's behalf because he closely associated with him. That can't be whitewashed.

Hamawy won because his hatred of Israel appeals to the far left. He won because a Palestinian superPAC poured $2M into his campaign. He also won because of the old-fashioned electoral system where he can still "win" if >70% of the voters vote against him.
Hamawy was among the most progressive candidates in the race — he supports Medicare for All as well as canceling medical and student loan debt.
I am not sure that M4A is the best way to address healthcare. And I am completely against a blanket cancellation of student loans. Especially medical student loans. Doctors are already extremely well paid in the US - much more than in other developed countries, and that contributes to the high cost of healthcare. Why should taxpayers absorb the cost of their student loans just so they can buy another Porsche or a vacation home?
He is outspoken in his support for Palestinians and has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, where more than 70,000 people have been killed.
There has been no "genocide" in Gaza, and these supporters of Palestinians routinely ignore the horrors inflicted by Hamas on 10/7. This whole war started because of atrocities committed by Palestinians.
Hamawy said, in an interview with antisemite Hasan Piker, that he opposed Israel having the Iron Dome because he thinks that Israeli citizens should be more exposed to indiscriminate attacks by the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah.

Really disappointed with her there. Just because he operated on her does not mean he is a good candidate for Congress. And given his associations with terrorists, he should never have been allowed to join the military either.

What is "happening here" other than the consequences of Palestinians' actions? Specifically, foreseeable consequences of attacking a neighboring country and indiscriminately slaughtering and kidnapping people at a music festival and in their own homes.
The IDF is still dealing with these pieces of shit.

I am sure Hamawy is having a sad every time he hears of another one of his Hamas buddies biting the dust.
As a representative, Hamawy hopes he can help steer the House to confront Israel’s genocidal war and the US role in it. “I felt I had to go to Washington to fix this myself.”
"Fix" what exactly? Israel's ability to defend itself from attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah?

He wants renewable-energy development instead of expanding oil and gas extraction and distribution.
There is a difference between ends and means. For example, one might deal with rape by neutering most men. If one is opposed to that means, does that make one also opposed to that end?

Hamawy won because his hatred of Israel appeals to the far left.
So if one does not love everything that the Netanyahu regime does, one "hates Israel", it seems.

There has been no "genocide" in Gaza, and these supporters of Palestinians routinely ignore the horrors inflicted by Hamas on 10/7. This whole war started because of atrocities committed by Palestinians.
As if that justifies MUCH worse atrocities.

Lex talionis (Latin: "law of retaliation") -  Eye for an eye - is NOT "a hundred lives for an eye".

"Fix" what exactly? Israel's ability to defend itself from attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah?

I note that many genociders claim that their actions are self-defense: Ottomans claimed that they had to defend themselves against Armenians, Hutu against Tutsi, Nazis against Jews, ...

So if one does not love everything that the Netanyahu regime does, one "hates Israel", it seems.
You are like a broken record. There is nothing Bibi-specific in the positions of Hamawy and other Israel haters. Hamawy specifically does not want Israel to have even defensive weapons to defend themselves from attacks by Hamas, Hebollah and Iran.
But Jeff Bezos was right in wanting the people of Rotterdam to temporarily dismantle a historic bridge just so he can get his superyacht past it, right?
What does forgiving student loans for physicians and other extremely well-paid professionals have to do with Bezos' yacht?
As if that justifies MUCH worse atrocities.
What "MUCH worse atrocities"? Targeting Hamas is not an atrocity. Yes, civilians suffer in the war. But invasion of Germany was not a worse atrocity than starting WWII, no matter how many German civilians suffered or how many German cities were reduced to rubble.
Lex talionis ("law of retaliation") -  Eye for an eye - is NOT "a hundred lives for an eye".
It's not about numbers. It's about eliminating threats, like Hamas terrorists.
IDF, Shin Bet kill Hamas Nukhba commander who led infiltration into Kissufim during Oct. 7 massacre

This article also highlights how certain media outlets will hide the true identity of the people they report on.

Jerusalem Post said:
Overnight on Saturday, the IDF killed an additional Hamas terror commander, Muhanad Othman Yassin Farwana, in southern Gaza. The IDF stated that Farwana had been involved in advancing several attack plans against both Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers, and who also posed an immediate threat to IDF troops.

But Al Jazeera ignores him being a Hamas terrorist when they report.

That fallacy must have a name. Yes, genociders like Ottomans, Nazis and Hamas/Hezbollah claim self defense. But so do countries actually engaging in self-defense, such as Israel and Ukraine.

It's not about labels, but about positions. Steyer has for years advocated rather extreme positions, like banning fracking and abolishing ICE.
He wants renewable-energy development instead of expanding oil and gas extraction and distribution.
The "instead" is a problem, as decarbonization of the economy will take a long time, and in the meantime we still need oil and gas. That's what people like Steyer either don't understand or willfully ignore.
There is a difference between ends and means. For example, one might deal with rape by neutering most men. If one is opposed to that means, does that make one also opposed to that end?
So, what is Steyer's plan to deal with illegal immigration then? Note that the ideology of sanctuary cities/states and idiocy of "no human is illegal" long predate the Trump presidency.

Because you didn't seem the least bit outraged about what JB wanted. Nothing like "If he can afford a superyacht as big as a big sailing ship, then he can afford to remove its masts and then reinstall them later."

As if that justifies MUCH worse atrocities.
What "MUCH worse atrocities"? Targeting Hamas is not an atrocity.
Killing many more civilians than Hamas did in its big attack. Like snipers killing children and deciding on which body parts of these children to shoot each day.

Yes, civilians suffer in the war. But invasion of Germany was not a worse atrocity than starting WWII, no matter how many German civilians suffered or how many German cities were reduced to rubble.
Would you say that about Israeli civilians? That it's OK if many of them die because they are human shields for the IDF?

Lex talionis ("law of retaliation") -  Eye for an eye - is NOT "a hundred lives for an eye".

Israel has had much more success in killing civilians than Hamas militiamen. Or is it necessary to break eggs to make an omelet?

Neither Hamas nor Hezbollah are very nice, but Israel's leaders and armed forces are acting MUCH worse than them. I think that Israel's leaders ought to share prison cells with Hamas and Hezbollah leaders.
