And to the surprise of no one, there were lots of white supremacists involved, and those white supremacists curiously use the same language as conservatives and libertarians (who are completely different, honest!) to talk about race (e.g. complaints about "social justice warriors").

It's almost as if conservolibertarian rhetoric was specifically designed to attract white supremacists or something.

At some point, GOP voters are going to have to accept some culpability for their own economic disparity no? The GOP keeps breaking promises to them, throwing every bone to the rich, and leaving the average FOX news viewer up shit creek. In response, the average GOP voter has shifted dramatically to the right, which still has not helped anyone. I mean, we're already at "Well, shit, yeah, he's a Nazi but at least he isn't a globalist." They're already knocking on the door to authoritarianism. How much further is there to go? In answer to my own question, it seems even Trump isn't hitting rock bottom.

Ya, they're clearly not at rock bottom. I don't know what it would take to break through their cognitive dissonance and I don't see anything happening anytime soon to change things around.

It's the two party system. You need to break it.
No, it is the "There has been 30+ years of right-wing propaganda feeding into this bullshit and it is now becoming a serious problem as the propaganda is gospel now" thing. Obama was elected President and the right-wing through a hissy fit and now we have Trump and this white supremacist movement rekindled.

a couple things:

1. as of april 2018 trump has an 85% approval rating with evangelical voters and 65-75% approval with republicans in general.
you need to understand that when it comes to people who are religious, nothing happening in the world or the administration matters, because religious thought is based on having a conclusion and then ignoring or vilifying anything that contradicts that conclusion.
"trump is a good president who will make america great again" is the conclusion, anything that goes against that conclusion is a lie or a distortion.

2. "they" don't have a "rock bottom" in the sense that the rest of us do, because you have to remember part of the foundation of conservative "logic" which is that no matter who you are or what your circumstances may be, you're actually a rich person who just doesn't have their money yet.
poverty stricken republican voters don't think, they KNOW, that they are one gas station scratch ticket away from being millionaires, or that the movie "brewster's millions" is a documentary and is about to happen to them, or they're going to make it big with their "mustard bottle that is also a flashlight" idea... by whatever insane method, the point is that every single poor ass republican voter is utterly convinced that any minute now they're about to be rich.
this is why they hate taxes and social safety nets, and why they vote against their own economic interests: because they think they're actually rich people, and since christian moral thinking is predicated on "fuck you, i got mine" and keeping down everyone else, they need to limit human decency in government in order to further their own ego.

3. trump was, and still is, a physical manifestation of everything that conservative american politics has stood for over the last 40 years. there couldn't be a more perfect encapsulation of the republican party if god his own self came down from the sky and carved it out of clay and breathed it to life.
liberals need to stop with this delusional that trump is an evil that everyone will see sooner or later - he's the best thing that ever happened in the minds of a huge number of americans, and there will never be this great awakening where suddenly people see him as a scandal riddled dipshit, because a scandal riddled dipshit is their ideal of what a perfect president is.

If government helps anyone other than the economic elites, that could benefit all those undeserving black people and other worthless minorities! [/conservolibertarian]

Yup. Many Germans saw Hitler as a hero and a savior even after Germany was crushed and the world found out about the concentration camps. I wouldn't expect American fascists to be any less delusional than German fascists alt-right free speech advocates.

Multi-party doesn't do much better because after the election you need a coalition to actually run things, this can give small parties power vastly beyond their numbers.
