I have no proof that it does or doesn't, but I've been thinking about this for a very long time and I was wondering what you guys think.
Does it not dictate the standards of the way people act? The roles of men and women and such. would this work against men and women that don;t fit the carbon cutout versions of male and female, such as the demure woman and the aggressive man. Doesn't that effect how we see gay people and transgenders, as a whole?
Doesn't It also set the ethics of work and interaction which might just effect the way people look at those who are in need of public services?
Would it not effect the way we decide heroics and glorify those people and occupations that we value, which is why a 22 year old gets several million dollars to move a football across a goal line while our teachers are on food stamps?
Does it not embed the religious and superstitions that permeate our society? Just look at what we do when we cross our fingers to get away with a lie as children and cross our hearts and hope to die when promising something. What about the terms we use like calling people a doubting Thomas and the like.
Couldn't culture be the one overwelming instution that could be called despotic or am I way off base here?
