Does the Human Habit Of Blaming the Victim Begin with our Belief in God?

AthenaAwakened, your OP is absurd.

Religion was not imported from outer space. It is not only human but very human. Religions embody human impulses and ideals, and in turn they reinforce them.
Maybe you're taking the OP too literally. I think you're both saying the same thing, namely, that religion is for two kinds of people, users and losers, and that no one who practices religion can ever be both, at least not simultaneously.

Religion involves having some kind of guardian or protector, a superior being to which you direct your worship and trust and love and to which you are loyal. But then it rapes you. And then it tells you that it's your fault. And then you respond that, yes, you are at fault, and the cycle repeats. There are no permanent intermediary positions, only the two extremes.

The application of superstition is unimportant. It's merely a survival strategy.
